  1. Think Turbo I've been following your posts re the speed series and I think I see the problem To me I think you tend to over think about the things that you think you want to do and whilst your thinking about what you think you want to do I think your not doing them Like James last year was my very first season in the speed series, also like James I had the most fun, laughs, thrills, scared myself stupid and made more new mates than ever in my adult life. Stop thinking about it mate and have a go, I think you might enjoy it

  2. My mates never seen one (lucky sod far too young) so I told him they can be quite scary and send things like hail storms that batter the hell out of your car and put massive dents in it. The look of fear when it started was a sight to behold. l.o.l

  6. They really were futuristic when they first came out in an era where everything was boxy. When you have seen a very good one they really are still a car that people stare at. Looking at the blog I would love to know how much it is costing as there is a lot of work going into that one. As finkangle say's it will be interesting how it handles with such a lump of weight at the back. I salute his passion

  7. It took me ages to find one I liked for my S2000. After all, you want it to fall easily into your hand, You want it to be chunky and feel solid when you grasp it. Eventually I settled for a Stainless steel one, that weighs in at 500g. It came from JDM Long Beach, California. They even cut the S2000 shift pattern into the top for me....! They have hundreds on their site. It wasn't cheap, plus there were import charges of $38 and shipping to add, but one lesson I've learned in life: you can never spend too much money on your knob.

  12. Haven't seen one of these for a good few years now. IIRC, GM threw loads of legal stuff at the small company that made the kit in order to stop them using the Nova name - even though they had it first. And they had to capitulate as they couldn't afford to fight it. Corporate bullying of the worst kind.

  13. There's not much of the original Nova he bought left, really! I could just see pound signs and heaps of burning tenners, but it was a fascinating thread. Agree that the finished car will be a cracker.

  16. Post edited to include comments from kind observant WSCC members. Also included note to confirm it has 12 months MOT. I would also include 12 months tax but its not transferable! Price reduced in hope of speedy sale. Simon

  17. Think Turbo dont forget mate that the target time is exactly just that - a target upon which to base the 100 point score. The actual target any driver is competeing against is himself and his machinery. If you enter any speed event in the knowledge that you wont be the quickest but you want to get your own time each time then you can't be disappointed. I would personally see the target time as a basis for personal improvement and an aim to achieve rather than a distant figure. In your class you will "win" class awards as your time on the day counts not it's direct relevance to the SS Target Time. I'm a novice with a small budget and can honestly say 2014 was one of the best summers of my adult life in the friends I made and the improvement in my driving of the old Mighty Crossflow. It would be very door to see you in the paddock and cheer you on if you decide to give it a try mate, Yours in motorsport, James Alexander
