  1. The cooling system is still disconnected while I finish sorting out the electrics, but as my old engine has now roared into life, seemed a shame to let the weekend pass without its kin joining it. (apologies for the very dodgy camera work, as was watching the engine not the phone!)

  2. It's fair to say that the person who did the wiring behind the scuttle thought "out of sight, out of mind"... Sorely tempted to snip it all out and start again, but the engine bay is surprisingly tidy, so I'll just have to do it the hard way. Thankfully (in this instance) my car has only a few sensors and when I've isolated/removed the washer and wiper sections (aeroscreen for me, sod the next owner ), it's going to be just the 'simple' hazard/indicator and lighting sections that remain.

  4. Just had a fuel swirl pot off this lad, no affiliation other than a satisfied customer. Great product at a great price and a good bloke to deal with http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ellisfabricationandwelding/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3692 And here's the end product after a lick of paint at home

  5. My favourite bit of trivia is this. In Shakespeare's day you didn't pay on your way into the theatre; if you went to The Globe, for example, staff would come round the audience with a box with a slot in the top and collect your money. What you paid depended on how good the seats/standing was (nothing changes). When everyone's cash was collected, the collection boxes were taken to a room at the back of the theatre for safe keeping. That room was called..........wait for it............the box office!

  10. Yep, a few bits left to do, and a couple of electrical gremlins to sort out, but not far now. Another quick run, (cooling system's disconnected while the scuttles off, so can't run for long! Not bad though considering that's the fuel drained from the XE car, last December!

  15. But is that a car that normally has steel panels that has had them replaced by grp? ie bodykits, lightweight competition panels etc They're still advertising kit car cover on the web site, (including Westfields) which wouldn't be possible if grp bodies were excluded.

  16. Top seat, I have these in mine. Very comfy and supportive and no flex. Snug fit, slim to medium build. Fits my SEiW MT75 on driver and passenger side without any problem. For anyone wanting to fit the aerodynamix seat using the Westie runners I wrote a little howto here: http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/108329-new-items/page-2

  20. So the plugs are indeed the ones from Autosparks, and I'm going to need 3x 5-way and 1x 7-way. Now I am just wondering which blade terminals I should be going for or + ? My plan is to put most of the 'gear' behind relays, so I think I'll only going to need 1mm2 thin-wall (16.5A) for the switches and instrument lighting.

  22. I make a fair few looms for projects at work and always start by fitting all the product (automotive cameras/monitors etc) with masses of cabling hanging out the back. Then I gradually tidy up starting from one product, cable tying as I go. Often as the loom progresses I find it necessary to cut cable ties and re-do to keep it all as neat as possible. Also, those self-adhesive cable clips come in handy to hold the cables and remove any strain from the components. For more complex projects like a dash loom, I'll start with a drawing so I can plot the connections and components first before commiting to actual cutting etc. Here's what lies behind my dash.......that'll be re-done then!

  23. Blimey, if there is even worse wiring out there then I clearly have very high standards Thankfully I am not too afraid of vehicle electronics/electrics so this is a job I will actually enjoy doing. Took the advice on the scuttle though and 4 bolts (and a bit of chewing away at some clear silicone) later it does indeed provide loads better access. Need more storage space though, can barely walk in the garage for fear of tripping over dismantled car parts!
