  1. Right, with Martin's post, that's well and truly it. I've bitten my tongue and soaked up totally unjustified and untrue personal digs aimed at me without any comment, but there's a limit and it's been reached. Yes, I had a dig at the fact that someone has "redneck" plates on his vehicle and at the state of Florida for producing them - the fact that's it a pickup truck is neither here nor there as I clearly indicated in my OP if the time is taken to actually read it. Redneck in the American sense of the word as shown here is absolutely nothing to proud of - quite the opposite in fact, it's extremely offensive and inflammatory to many, many people in America. Whoever has this truck either doesn't realise what the term "redneck" REALLY means and needs to be made aware of it, or they are aware of it and are utter jerks and deserving of public criticism. And as I'm American, I'm especially entitled to say that. Those plates are an absolute embarrassment, and if you don't think they are, you need to do a bit of research. I did NOT "get the hump" when Graham swore (twice). His swearing by deliberate misspelling to bypass the filter was against the rules that he publicly acknowledged he knew and was subsequently reported by several members to the Moderation Team who applied the compulsory ban - again, the Moderation Team took the decision, not me. And it was Graham who publicly announced he'd had a posting ban, not the Moderation Team, who keep these matters private. Finally, regardless of my position within the club, I'm entitled to an opinion just like anyone else. My opinion is that bragging about being a bigot, whether accidentally or intentionally, is cringe-worthy. If you think it isn't, then I'm sad for you but that's your right. If you disagree with me, email or PM me by all means, my email address is on the bottom of every one of my posts - I don't hide behind a forum handle. This thread was meant to point out that the term redneck is not a clever thing to bandy about in public. It turned into an unprovoked and slanderous attack on me including swearing, followed by comments clearly made without having read the OP or understanding the situation. As this thread has rumbled on and degenerated beyond repair, and nothing will fix or enhance it, it's being locked. As I'm not the bad guy here and have done absolutely nothing wrong, I'm not issuing an apology, but as has been said before, you're free to stand or vote against me in April. *message ends*

  2. Very cringe worthy indeed. Club Chairman has a dig at somebody who has redneck plates on his truck, presumably for a joke or ironically, then gets the hump when somebody utters the s word.

  3. They'll always find a way round it, it will be a series of flashing lights on the dash telling them what to turn what dial to. IMO they should do away with shore-to-ship radio. Drivers can radio in with a problem or when he wants his pit stop, Lewis can spend an hour whinging about something trivial. Engineers shouldn't be able to run the race by turning the dials, once the lights go out it should be down to the driver alone to manage temperatures, tyres, pressure, fuel etc and drive his own race. Fair enough, gather telemetry to analyse the performance after the race but people on the pit wall shouldn't be able to change any settings once the cars are on the track, they're having far too much influence on the race and the driver is now a puppet turning dials to the right numbers. There's nothing more uninspiring than the quickest cars in the world being driven at 70% to manage fuel and tyres. Get out there and ring its neck until you see the flag like the good old days.

  4. The heat shield on my exhaust failed on a track day last Friday. The welds on the bits where the jubilee clips pass through failed and it all but fell off. At least that was all the terrible rattling was! As its an aluminium alloy piece, its tricky to weld, but I dropped into Sweetnam Bradley, a metal fabricators in Malmesbury completely unannounced while I was having my new tyres fitted to the Westy. They are right next door to Kwik Fit. Met a delightful chap, turned out he'd scratch-built his own kit car and he offered to TiG weld it there and then for the cost of a few quid into the tea swindle. Fantastic service and a really nice thing to do - and a really neat job, too. So in return, I'll give them a plug on the Forum. If you are anywhere in the vicinity of Wiltshire and need some metalwork, here's the people to do it! Good chaps!

  6. Personally I'm all for the independence of countries and counties as it means as a club we can then charge them the more expensive international membership rate for their WSCC membership

  7. I would ban all live telemetry and radio contact between pit and driver. Use the old style system and let the drivers get on with driving. If they see a car catching them up do they really need to have someone say go faster? I like F1 but agree it has got silly with the rules sucking the fun out of it. The drivers are still super fit and talented, even Max Chilton, but it is hard to imagine with the budgets some have how smaller teams could compete now

  9. Can we not just limit it to northerners and southerners. Natruly the southern wscc membership would be more expensive.

  12. Aye, to sort out all the speculative "complaints", all reports to the stewards/race director from teams to be made on a "jeopardy" basis; if you report another team for an infringement, and the team is found in the clear, you get the punishment they would have received! Soon make teams think twice before complaining.

  13. To me F1 died years ago, in fact almost all the great old school motorsport events have been ruined by bureaucracy.

  15. That looks suspiciously like a Pistonheads Sunday service to me. Lots of different cars there and it is parked next to a Ferrari Daytona. Try going onto the Pistonheads forum and starting a blog, might dig something up?

That picture doesn't look too old there is a Z4 BMW in the back ground which looks like a relatively newish style He's done the right thing by going to the RS owners club , I found out that way too after looking at the site one day and my old car was on the front of the site as it came up.........must admit I got a lump in the throat seeing it still around should never have sold it but hind sight is a wonderful thing..............would love to get it back but would need to fork out about 35 K IF the current owner would sell of course.
