  1. Yes, well done on engine removal - getting it out is usually quicker than putting it in (ooh err ) but depending on your age, it's always handy to take a photo or two - otherwise you invariably end up with a bracket, two washers and a funny bolt left over and you can't for the life of you remember where they went (Age=the older you get, the more experienced you get at these things, but the memory isn't so good). What I always find is that you soon run out of space in the garage to put things or all the spanners / sockets you used have a life of their own. If you take your time and only work on it when you want to, it's really rather enjoyable.

  2. Well after a couple of years warming the passenger seat in Mark Redpath's SEW i started to look for one of my own. Following a car accident when i was younger (which we don't talk about. do we Mark?) its time to give up motorcycling. The pain in my wrist and hand is just to much. I needed something to replace the feeling i get from biking but without the pain. After failing to put a deal together for a mates car it was off to the interweb where i came across this. A 1993 SeIw with 5k miles from new. As my Westi adviser told me. " find one as close as you can get to what you want and then change those things you don't like" Good advice. This seemed to be everything i was looking for. Not too low or track based, full wet weather gear, Body without a scratch or crack anywhere. Good solid 2ltr Pinto ( EFI version. not seen that before). And came with some assorted spares plus a cover. I emailed the owner pete and went to see it the next day. Off to Stoke saw it and bought it on the spot. Picked it up on sunday and drove it over to my mums in north wales ( empty double garage ) and it didn't skip a beat. Its going to be good enough to just drive as is until winter then theres a job list thats starting to take shape already. .

  3. I think there's over 20 screws holding it all together. Lost count after they took some out that were trying to escape. Three surgeons stood around the bed a few days after it happened and one of them said he'd give it a go while the others wanted to lop it off. Obviously I went for the optimist, though I was so full of morphine at the time I wasn't overly bothered.

  4. Even seasoned pros were first timers once ! The fact that you got it out,on your own without any ballsups makes me think that its more confidence than ability you lack There are people with far less experience tackled swaps - they get as far as they can and then post questions to get them further on It doesnt matter if it takes you longer than other people, different people work at different paces I think you should pat yourself on the back mate

  5. Barny I'd list them on Exchange and Mart or go to another steam rally with them. Not many cross flow users have access to ebay
