  2. Just for the record and for those who don't know, the Chairman of the WSCC is a foreigner - luckily enough, one with a fairly thick skin. I really don't mind lambasting politicians when they deserve it, which is fairly often, as they get paid to be one and really only have themselves to blame. However, I'm not at all enamoured with foreigner bashing on the forums, especially considering about 4% of our club membership are not British or UK-based. Kindly save your vitriol for the politicians. Denigrating people because of their nationality, creed, colour, religion or gender is not what we do here, and I'm already tired of the emails I'm getting complaining about some of the perceived xenophobia in this thread. People all over the world are generally good and want the same things you and I want - health, safety, security and comfort. What makes people bad is not the country in which they were born, it's the system in which they have to survive. Scolding over, and let's get back to "the friendly club" please - thanks.

  6. As long as we live a life that endears us to others and brings them joy that they share in stories with others, we live on forever.

  7. I reckon our soul of sorts must go somewhere but you aren't going to know about it so don't worry. As Basil Fawlty said 'Woooomph' what was that? Your life! Can I have another go? Nope that's your lot!' Remember that and all will be fine!

  8. near us they have just built a huge cycleway as there are loads that commute on bikes to work along this stretch , I forget the amount but it was hundreds of thousands if not millions by the time they bought the land they spent building it its miles long and about 16ft wide smooth tarmac fenced off and is built in the fields the other side of the hedge from the road so is perfect for cyclists , there have been loads killed on the road over the years so you would think cyclists would be over the moon and use this perfect stretch of tarmac but oh no they still use the road that's all pot holes and grids ,stupid bleedin cyclists deserve to get knocked off imho ,they have no excuses if they do get mowed down when there is a safe cycleway 6ft away , car drivers would give there right arm for the perfect tarmac they have on the cycleway , or is it uncool to use a cycleway what a waste of public money took willem out last night for a drive in the elise and there was a cycle race on ,numbers on there backs etc , they were swerving all over the road avoiding grids n potholes , how can you give them a safe berth when passing if they suddenly swerve halfway across the road infront of you ,a couple of times I was a foot away from the verge on the other side of the road avoiding them ,think I need some james bond spikey spinners that shoot out from my wheels is it legal to race on the public highway ?

  9. UKIP are not trying to stop immigration, they're trying to control it, so anyone with skills which are valuable to our country can live here regardless of whether their country is part of the european union or not. Why should someone who lives in part of the european union be given preferential treatment to a person resident of any other country? Lets improve the education and skill base and most importantly the attitude of our future workers, and tighten benefits for people who do not want to work so this country does not need to seek as many workers from outside the UK.

  16. As a cyclist of 30 years covering on average 12000 miles a year, oh and owner of 3 horses, oh and a Westfield driver I have my own views. Maybe before ranting you should try it out - there's nothing like experience to change your point of view And Yes fully legal to hold a cycle race on open roads

  20. Personally I'm simply fed up with this country being influenced and ruled by Europe. Im fed up with the immigrants taking local work, working for a pittance and sending the rest of the money home. I'm fed up with the thieving element of the immigrants that are swamping the local communities. Just like farage says, i would be worried if 12 Romanians (or whoever) moved next door I'm fed up with the bl**** foreigners thinking they are above the law. If that makes me racist, so be it. I want a better place for children to grow up in Ukip will get my vote and I hope they send shock waves through the main parties...

  21. On another note. I was fitting the spare wheel (for the number plate light) ready for the MOT and noticed that the fuel tank is rubbing up against the bolt that holds the wishbone to the chassis. I havent had chance to get in to see if there is a hole but I have a feeling (from when I filled the tank last) that there could well be one warn away. So is it silly to ask, would this fail the MOT? My presumption is yes.

  22. I’m currently in Normandy and travelling around the various D-Day battlefield sites. As humbling an experience as that is, even more so is seeing some of the veterans who have travelled here from far afield and who, despite being frail and elderly, still insisted on walking (painfully slowly) to the monuments and then releasing their sticks to stand and salute their fallen comrades. A different generation indeed. R
