  1. I blame the "stealth black" paint job. This is why Westfields should be a bright colour, like Yellow

  4. ** Now sold ** I hardly ever use my sidescreens and I bought these only a couple of years ago when I changed the windscreen pillars to accommodate the latest style mirrors. I've now got a new Westfield complete with sidescreens so I've now got two sets so these are up for grabs. They are in good condition with no obvious defects. If you want any more photos then let me know. £125 ono - prefer collection or meet up. (Cheshire 20mins from M6 J19) Pete

  5. Welcome! If you fancy a chat please give me a call on 07887491212. Alternatively send an email to mavanzeller@sky.com. Or if you don't live too far away from Harrogate we could meet for a pint. (or you could ignore me )

  6. Every time I have some new tyres put on the Westfield I tell them to stick 18psi in. "Yes Ma'am" they say. Every time I drive away there is at least 30psi inside. Can tell straight away, so I take a gauge with me and drop them down to a sensible pressure once I've gone round the corner out of sight. Wondered if it was one of those ignoring what the girly is saying things, but maybe not. Jen

  7. Good man Ben, I know exactly how you feel. The money is burning a hole in your pocket, but please take your time, choose wisely, do the research and don't be afraid to walk away until you get your dream motor. There's no one right answer, but lots of choice. One final thing - don't be afraid to travel to find it. It's almost a standing joke in here that the amount you want your car is directly proportional to the distance it is located away from you.

  9. Hi there, Name would help. Every Westfield is different but you can narrow down what you need by - 1. Bike engine car or car engine car, if you are biker then you may want a 4 wheeled bike but I guess you mean relaxed motoring for you, so a car engine for you. 2. Size and power of engine, an occasional track car is what you want so an 1800cc or 2000cc. 3. Weather equipment, that means hood and doors, they are still draughty and wet and hard to get in and out of the car, it's no modern cabriolet. 4. Wide body or Narrow, the wide or SEIW and SEW have a couple of inches extra room in each direction. SEI and SE are the narrow cars. The rest is owners preferred technical tweaks, don't get hung up on that. A visit to your local area meet will help out with your selection.

  10. Hi and welcome, great first post Short advice to start with: > Have a read of these: http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/42064-purchasing-a-westfield/ http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/37182-what-to-look-for-when-buying-a-westie/ > Get yourself to a local meet and talk to some owners - pretty sure Martin van Zeller's your local man, but I think you just missed his local monthly meet last night : http://www.wscc.co.uk/local.htm > Hold on and come to the National Kit Car Show at Stoneleigh (Warwickshire) on the 4-5 of May, where you'll see hundreds of Westfields, talk to lots of owners, and get a clearer idea in your mind - definitely worth the trip. Lots more advice from others to follow, but it's a start - good luck! That budget will buy you something great.

  11. Ouch, that hurts. You're lucky though, could have been worse. Had a Vauxhall serviced at a dealer many years ago who for some reason idiotically pumped up all the tyres to 45psi, a fact I only found out ten miles later when I stopped in the wet and aquaplaned straight into Fiesta in front of me (no ABS then), about £5,000 in damages. Went back to complain to dealer who denied all knowledge, of course. Wrote to Vauxhall and Trading Standards, no joy, I couldn't prove I didn't go straight to the nearest petrol station and do it myself (as if). NCD lost, £250 excess to pay - not a happy bunny. Needless to say, I never had another Vauxhall and I check my cars every time I have them serviced. So at least you didn't have a bump.

  12. Don't forget your browser bookmarks as well - that's a real own goal if you forget to export those and save them.

  13. I like John's suggestion and just to add. Where do you store all your business critical files? What email system/programme/service do you use - you'll need to consider backing this up too if you replace any machines or do a full install of Win7. I surprise myself when rebuilding aging machines that I often forget to backup Outlook data and therefore have lost all my old emails.

  14. Microsoft said in a partner briefing to us "move to windows 7"; we said "what about 8" and they said "move to windows 7." personally if you are buying windows then why not use the opertunity to upgrade the hardware... windows is around £87 new pc £265 including windows 8 (typically with a windows 7 downgrade) cheers John

  16. WD40 isn't a lubricant, so will be short lived. Might cure it for 5 minutes. The only real way to cure squeaky bushes is removal and regreasing.

  17. just given them a call about the discs.... seems there is a few disc sizes on offer..... I tried to measure my discs as well as I could (bearing in mind the caliper was in the way) hoping that a rough guesstimate would suffice, and came out with 245-250mm.... unfortunately it seems theres a few sizes on offer: defo a 244 and a 247.6 mm on offer there... being cortina mk2 and 3.... thickness of disc I measured at approx 13mm... do westfields not usually base their front brakes on the same cortina model? can anyone shed some light as to what model mine should be based on? or are they all different? mine was an 1800zetec based westy. on the rear I know Im running golf calipers, guessing would be either mk3 or mk4, but again not 100% sure.. might give good old jak a pm and ask
