  1. After having diagnosed my c20xe engine with the 'porous head' syndrome, Adrian kindly offered to help me fix it. Before I start the 'story' I just want to say a massive thank you to Adrian (webmaster) for all his help (well him pretty much doing it all with me handing spanners a stuff) , use of his awesomely equipped man cave, his precious time and vast amount of engine/westy knowledge. So it all started a few weekends ago when I popped round to Adrian's with the car and we started work on it. We started work straight away with taking the head off, and cleaning up all around the engine. The grub screws removed Adrian sleeved the oil way and popped it all together. Thought this was going well, new head gasket and other gaskets etc fitted we popped the head back on. However, all was going to well to be true, after replacing the head bolts with new ones (Late Short Ones as that what was in there already) and tightening them up and running the engine up to temp before the final torque, we were on the last but one bolt on the final torque and it ripped out and pulled the blocks thread out with it. On taking the head back off and measuring bolts and looking up on internet, the bolts we should've used were the early/longer ones as 27mm should be poking out the bottom of the head. Adrian researched the best route to get it fixed and we went with a heli-coil fix, popped the head all back together, and job was a good one!!! Adrian also tidy'ed up bits of my engine that needed attention like a tube/pipe or bolts etc welding a cycle arch bracket up and re-alingning the cycle wings, and set the carbs up a little more equal on each side. All I can say is she is running and sounding like a dream now. :) Great to have the help to get this fixed with such a kind member on here! Another massive thank you to Adrian. Really a Top chap Taking on this job myself would've been scary with my previous servicing/brake change etc experience.. never had an engine apart before! I'll post some pics up later when I get home of what we got up to
