  1. Morning all, I just wanted to post a quick note to report on the Northants Area Meeting held at Sywell Aerodrome this Monday just gone. Hopefully this post will be read by new members who havent yet ventured to an area meeting! We are a very social bunch and "car club night" is always one i look forward to. Meeting other like minded enthusiasts gives Debbie a break from my westfield related witterings..... Area Organiser Richard Botterill was joined by Mark (MarkMK) Horace Marks (HoraceM) Ian Prior (FatBaldBloke) and Myself James Alexander (Alexander72). A small meeting but the weather was foul and everyone has busy schedules. Jody Arch sadly failed to make it owing to breakdown in his vehicle. We enjoyed a couple of hours of conversation over a pint that was really interesting. Ian Prior works at Red Bull Formula 1 and he gave us a real insight into next years car design, the processes at the factory and the sheer pace of technological advance in the F1 world. It was very interesting to learn straight from the horses mouth just how big these operations are. Ians F1 experience goes back quite a few years and it is really good to hear his tales of the inner workings of the F1 world. He also build impressive Westfields Horace described the development of his Super Charged cross-flow and I found it very interesting to hear how his engine has developed and how his expertise has got it running so well. Mark and I chewed over the pro's and con's of duratec re-builds and how I might get the best from my project engine. Mark has the added experience of swapping from Pinto to Duratec so his opinions should hopefully save me a few quid and help me avoid any common pitfalls. These meets are a great forum for Mr Botterill to plan the coming summer seasons events so if you want the "Area" to attend a specific show, race meet, event get them into the AO and it can go on the calendar. Richard Botterill is very active in this regard and is the main point of contact. Finally, I described my first season in the Speed Series and the group gave me some very helpful suggestions to begin my weight loss programme (on me, not the car ). All in all a very civilised way to spend an evening in good company at a very nice venue of Sywell Aerodrome. If any new members, or lurkers thinking of joining would like to come next month you it would be good to meet you. James Alexander 07811207274

  2. Nice write up James! It often gets forgotten that the Forum is only a small part of the WSCC, the core of the club really is the local members and meets and the things we get up to...

  3. Hi Everyone! Further to my introduction, I went to the factory today with swmbo to see Simon and after he told me about the £1000 off the first 10 kit sold in January, I put down a deposit on a Mazda SDV Kit!!! If anyone is considering a kit I would fully recommend they go and see Simon. He didn't try and sell the car at all, he showed us both round and let the products sell themselves. He was fully prepared to answer all my questions too. I have gone for... Postbox red bodywork Detachable arches External panelling Powder coated Chassis/suspension. Serious considering the turbo sport seats as I sat in the red S2000 car they have and they are soooo much better than the standard seats in the car in the showroom. All in all a great day and in 6 weeks I will be back there collecting my kit - wish me luck! Shaun

  5. Martin, we've talking about apples and steaks here. One is a web-based only thing; the other has so much more to offer than just a boardroom (and a magazine - and a calendar) - there's Stoneleigh, local area meets, the Speed Series, exclusive offers and discounts on insurance and many other things I could name (see http://www.wscc.co.uk/membership.htm as a reminder). As far as the magazine goes, I'm afraid I couldn't disagree with you more when you say "the fact the club is spending money it doesn't need to" - it's still the primary source of information for most of our members, not the boardroom. We are working hard on ensuring the content and format of WW is what the members want to read, and Peter Osborne does a fantastic job putting it together - plus there's a growing archive of past issues of WW available for download, giving members a very useful reference library. Plus this is a club dedicated to a single marque - there is simply no finer place for all things Westfield related. I have saved more than my annual membership fee every single year from following advice given by others. My membership has paid for itself many times over - fact. I also believe there's something about the club that a simple boardroom doesn't offer - friendship not only online but in the real world. When the chips are down, this club is unequalled in rallying around and helping those in need. I appreciate that we live in competitive times in a multi-choice world - but sometimes it's also good to remember just what great value we get for our money as well.

  6. I highly recommend BTguard as they are reliable, they do not store logs, unlike most VPN Servers. Servers located in US, UK, Netherlands (fastest), and Canada. Remember that you can still get DNS Leakage, when your VPN service drops out, your real ID is shown.

  7. Also when asked will he miss anyone if he dies (trying the land speed record on a bike) - he responded 'my toolbox'. Quality entertainment.

  8. I like his hair cut and his mutton chops. And, in seriousness, if anyone has seen his TT DVD close to the edge it shows what a skilled set of professionals the road racers are... on another level IMO
