Terry's post seems to have been deleted, but suspect that might have been a reference to mine, Dave? If so: there's nothing secret about the road network, but there are a few gems of roads out there that take a bit of finding. There are also all sorts of issues for both motorists and local residents that come to the fore when these become too popular and/or abused - something that is compounded by the fact that we live in an age in which tolerance for cars being driven purely for the enjoyment of driving seems to be reducing. When you read some of the stories about the likes of the Evo Triangle (near misses, speed traps at prime overtaking spots, people running without number plates, etc), that have been brought about in part by it being a "known" route that seems to now attract an undesirable element, it sometimes make sense to be a little circumspect...
