  1. I heard a discussion on the radio today which basically said, why are we surprised. People who work in the city do it for one reason, money. They will push back the boundaries as far as they can to fuel their wealth. Moral and social well-being is not in their make-up. It is completely wrong. I'm looking at moving everything to the Coop bank or similar, I've had enough, and the best way to ensure the banks change in my opinion is to withdraw our money from these corrupt organisations and not to rely on government or Bank of England action. The sooner we get a responsible banking system based on some genuine social and moral values the sooner we will emerge from the current economic crisis.

  2. Gents, Just had to remove a post that had a link to said event. The thread was already deleted once for being an ad by a non-member and against the rules, but I sent a PM to help in the spirit of friendliness - kindly don't take the urine, PM one of the two gents at the top of the thread. Thanks.

  3. Ahh...the old Dresden argument. Don't forget that Churchill authorised these raids then promptly distanced himself, letting Arthur Harris take the heat. This memorial is well overdue. nearly 56, 000 lost their lives in the most dangerous activity after working on U Boats. I'll be going, with our whole extended family, later in the year to pay our respects and to honour my uncle Dennis who completed two full tours of duty (Wellingtons and Stirlings with 149 Sqn and later Stirling IVs with 299 Sqn) earned a DFC and kept all but one of his crew alive. His bravery inspired me to my 26 years of RAF service. Could handle 40 tons of bomber at 20 years old yet he had so much excitement, he never even learned to drive a car.

  4. Two elderly couples go out for their annual dinner. Fred turns to Norman and asks where they went for their holiday. Norman thinks and says "hang on, it'll come to me". "it's er, oh, it's on the tip of my tongue". "It's a flower, got petals and is red." Fred says "a rose" "that's it, a rose. Rose, where did we go on our holiday"
