  1. Don't know if it's still relevant but Co-op insurance was always cheapest for me and my bunch of mates back wen we learnt to drive. £1500 TPFT sounds about right though, 15 years ago I was 17 in an 18 year old MkII Escort, the car was worth £250 and I was paying £1000 TPFT. Insurance is one big piece of sh-t pie and we all have to take a bite

  2. Try elephant.com They seem the best for young drivers and do a good 10 month policy where you get a years no claim bonus for the 10 months. I always find that confused.com is the best comparison site compared to all the others. Very simle and easy to use for grandads too Admiral is a sister company for elephant so I always get a quaote from elephant and then ring admiral and see if they can beat it. when they do then go back to elephant and ask them to beat their sister comapny (which they often do) Hope this helps dude dan

  3. Try getting quotes with his mum on the policy (not as main driver) some companies give more disciunt for two drivers especially if one is experienced and female.

  6. FWIW, have a stock 2l Silvertop on TBs and it's excellent. Fraction shy of 170bhp, superb driveability, even economical too (often get over 30mpg in normal driving). Excellent VFM I think. Of course you can get more from tuning, but it soon adds up cost-wise. Cams will be an easy £500 straight away and without head work, aren't going to give an awful lot more, so it soon becomes the dripping tap syndrome. Fine if you have the desire and budget of course. You can always revisit tuning later anyway. Not experienced the multi link steering on the Westfield, but used to have a Marcos Mantula many years back and that had a similar setup....which was pretty awful.
