  1. I run a R380 which is a better option than the LT77 in that it can handle more torque. 5th gear is better but 1st is still not worth using. T5 is the best choice.

  2. Got a new silencer fitted at last. It is a 6 inch one and only 14 inch long all welded on a 2.25inch stainless tube. Cruising along its quieter than the standard Westfield one, but at higher revs its a lot noisier. Had a late night dash up the motorway last night which confirmed this. It looks the business though and has a lovely deep burble to it on the over run. Had the silencer for a while and £60 got all the welding and pipe work done. Really chuffed.

  5. I've had the SD1 (LT77) gearbox in my seight since i built it in 1997, although i brought a heavy duty type suffix 'D' i think that has better internals, upgraded my engine to a 4.6 engine, with somwhere close to 300bhp 2 years back. The lt77 was originally fitted to the sd1 and many other heavy cars, even the vitesse (190bhp) version had one, but i think in a light westfield it does fine unless you are a 0-60 in as fast as possible type driver, it will last and give you good service, although there are better but expensive options. Must say my lt77 isnt brilliant but does the job, although i would like to replace it with maybe the R380, but i am moving house, and this comes first. At the end of the day, if it breaks you will have to fix it or replace it, this was my option when i fitted the 4.6 engine, i was prepared to break it, and when it did or does i will replace it with something better. The T5 is excellent but will need chassis mods, and cost you close to £2500 unless you can find a used one for less, so is it really worth it. Dont worry to much, with what people will tell you all kinds of horror stories about the 4.6 engine, some expensive if things go wrong, only exprience will help you understand what applies to you. I you want to discuss anything further, i can let you have my number a proper chat. hope this helps. scott

  6. Next the donor engine. Coming out of my dads old outlaw hotrod. A C20XE running MBE 967i on twin Weber 48's. Should be running somewhere in the region of 230bhp The engine was removed from this and the old car sold as a rolling chassis After alot of umming and erring about what gearbx to go for (we were thinking elit sequential,2nd had quaife, SPC and BGH) But due to the time restraints and cost of the above options we decided to go for a Tran-X straight cut box with Alloymain case and lid. Running a 2.39 1st gear This was mated to the engine via Yukpeed bellhousing and installed in the car using heavy duty engine mounts The rocker cover also had a birthday. SBD denso alternator and multi-vee pulley. Second hand manifold bought from someone on here. The idea is to get the car running and sorted and then look a bonnet exit system from someone like Simpsons when saved up some more £££ We have done more bits to the car rebuilding front end etc but will come back to that when I have pics

  8. Hi all, I have one toyo R888 205/60/r13 SG spare after getting a puncture in one of my others. I can't get soft compound any more as there seem to be supply issues on the SG compound. I've bought 2 new GG compound tyres for the rears and so this one is up for grabs. It's done about 250 road miles and so has loads of tread left. Looking for around £85 collected or postage at cost.
