what about some sort of lane monitoring system that picks up cars stuck in the middle or outer lane then flashes the reg and car description up and tells them to move over when not over taking. It would help increase road capacity.

I think the signs on the new smart motorways need to be far more accurate. I understand that’s people rather than technology but they appear to be wrong at least 50% of the time.

I think it's harsh to specifically blame the Halifax as this is 100% common place for insurance renewals now (maybe specialised kit insurance aside!) Halifax along with first direct are the 2 best financial/insurance I've dealt with. I've just accepted that I have to spend 10 mins or so at every renewal getting myself a new meerkat. The best part is telling them that you won't be renewing. "Sorry to hear that sir we would be prepared to try and beat that quote" "No thanks if you wanted my custom you'd have given me the best price first time goodbye."
