  1. Yeah, but in that car and wearing those shoes, you're visible a mile off!

  2. So this week I've been a bit sad and purchased some bits on eBay! My first purchase was a drinks holder ... which of course had to be in matching colours and comes with some storage space! I know it's really sad but I use the car in the winter and to have a warm drink available will make up for looking sad in the car park. The other purchase was due to me wanting to take some window cleaner, polish, etc., to Silverstone. I'd ran out of room in the boot so decided to buy some small spray bottles. Only cost a couple of quid but the space saving is huge. My wife keeps saying I should be banned from using eBay

  3. We recently toured for 11 days with @Geoffrey (Buttercup) - North Yorkshire AO , 2 nights Glen Coe, 2 on Skye, 2 in Durness, 2 in the Orkneys, 1 in Aviemore and finally 2 in Killin. We were also joined for 4 days with @Garyt and @ziplob. I can honestly despite a few midges and it being mildly moist occasionally it was the best trip I've ever done in the UK. Great pics to.

  4. Well we must have used all the sun up over the last few days as the dreaded rain came for most of the day...the guy from BBC weather was spot on, but it didn't stop us traveling from UIG to Loch Leven and most of the Isle of Skye, some really great roads..dropped in passed dunvegan castle...last leg of the journey tomorrow, thinking we will have done around 900miles in total. Internet not very quick will post up a few photos later as I know everyone likes a photo...haha

  7. For the paint I used dulux trade emulsion pretty tough stuff. I used a gliderol electric roller for my door. Just ordered from the factory and fitted myself. They are reasonably easy to fit. Just need a second pair of hands to lift the curtain into place. Went for the insulated aluminium roller. If you want a draft free fit you'll need the full box option basically boxes in the curtain area and you can seal round it. Very happy with it so far and been faultless in 18 months.

  9. Regrettably, I have to write that I had my first racing incident at Pembrey on Sunday. The cars looking decidedly second hand at the moment as the rear offside wheel was literally hanging off. The upright had sheared in two places and will need to be repaired. I also sheared the brake line off the top of the calliper and the rear arch is completely mashed. The race weekend started well as I finally found a hotel that’s welcoming, comfortable, with good food and not silly money. I packed ear plugs so my mates snoring didn’t keep me awake and all was looking good…except the weather. Well it is Wales I suppose. I manage to get to the circuit late after my friend insisted on getting his breakfast from the hotel (only as it was included and he wanted his…..sorry…...my moneys worth!). No bother but I decided to go on wets just before we were called to the assembly area so it was a little rushed for quali. I went out and only found out half way round the circuit that we were doing the new circuit layout, which was a bit of a surprise to say the least. It also just started to rain a little harder. I did a few familiarisation laps and then pitted to get my pressures done, only my friend had forgotten the pressure gauge. Damn. I went out for two last laps and pressed on. I qualified 9th out of 23 and I was happy with that. The first race was equally a rush to prepare for as I had a bit of movement in my seat and when fixing it, the seat was out when we were called to the assembly area. I also switched to my dry tyres (Avon ZZR’s), good job I borrowed a wheel gun. The circuit was drying with a dry line but soaked in a few places. The race started well as I went round the outside of the hairpin at the start and gained a place into 8th. I then out-braked two cars in one corner on the new hairpin, putting me up to 6th. I finished the first lap and was then out-dragged on the straight. I tried to outbreak the other car only to slightly overcook it and half spin. I lost 4 places and was far too keen to get them back….a few corners along I tried the same move at the new hairpin and just carried too much speed into the corner, unsighted, another car turned in and I collect him. I was gutted and missed out on a good place and the second race. I apologised to the other driver and had a huge slice of humble pie, with extra loss of pride drizzled over the top. The Marshalls said it was a racing incident, but I know it was too ambitious so lesson learnt. The car is now at my local motorsport garage for repairs and I’m really hoping to get out there for the next race at Coombe. It’s my local circuit and I was really looking forward to it. Fingers crossed. I found out afterwards, one other driver lost his cool , pulled up to another drivers car, opened the door and hit him on the arm! He was excluded from the result and no doubt will get points on his licence. The circuit photographer summed up my feelings perfectly with a epic shot: I have the video, but have decided not to post it as it just bad 'form' on my part when I hit someone else. I still feel bad about it now. Thats the highs and lows of racing I guess. Mike

  10. The first wide bodies were released some time around 1990 and like the narrow (standard) body were available as both live and independant variants. Production of the live axle wide body continued right up until the end of 2006 when it was finally phased out due to a lack of demand from new buyers,

  11. Hello all, new Westfield owner in sunny Glasgow . Recently purchased 1800 Speed Sport for use in Hillclimb and Sprint events along with dry day outings. Absolutely love it, great to drive, isnt too heavily modified ( yet, not sure about this MT75 gearbox tho !)

  15. As Trev said, it's the reason the club ditched the HP colour laser printer for the MemSec to use once the OS driver support ran out, £212 for four cartridges to refill it was ludicrous. Check the cartridge costs and print quantity per cartridge.

  16. Hi Clark, I threw away my HP A4 colour laser and replaced it with an HP inkjet because the laser cartridges were over £200 a set of 4. The printer worked fine but the cartridges were too expensive. check the cartridge yield (no of pages) against the price. I think lasers in most cases maybe cheaper per page, but it expensive when you buy cartridges.. it really depends how many pages you print It would be worth checking the cartridge costs before you make a purchase.. but I guess you know that already If you decide to buy HP , give me a shout I'll give you my HP friends and family login. it might be a bit cheaper..the care packs are much cheaper.

  19. I used this. Two tubs for a single garage including exposed ceiling and no coat already on the walls in some places. If only doing the walls and they are already painted, could get two coats in a single garage http://www.screwfix.com/p/sandtex-ultra-smooth-masonry-paint-pure-brilliant-white-10ltr/23771

  20. The advert said it needs just under half an inch room between the seat and tunnel. Luckily mine is a wide bodied and the seats don't go all the way so I had a bit of room. I tried a cheaper plastic version but the cup holders were too large and didn't work with the movement in the car. This one (which cost around £15) seems to be perfect ... although if you see me at Silverstone covered in coffee or coke then you know it didn't work :-)

  22. I have wondered, when I keep seeing those storage things on Facebook whether they'd fit. (Again, I use the car all year round too, and like to head out to blast a little further from home sometimes, so the net pockets I have already aren't always so handy as I'd hoped. Mini spray bottles are a great idea for that!

  24. The Pinot Griot in 2.25l boxes from Sainsbury's, both regular and blush, is surprisingly drinkable - we've had that at the Stoneleigh post-AGM BBQ the last two years and it went down well. About £12.75 per 2.25l box.

  26. Personally I'd go for a sectional garage door, thicker insulation & more secure. As for paint just use a decent brand masonry paint or emulsion if plastered.

  27. Funilly enough I was looking at the exact same roller shutter last night. It's definitely on my replacement list of things to do. The company I have been looking at is http://www.rollerdor.net and most of them have remote openers too. As said above they are an easy DIY fit.

  30. It's been quite a while since such a sad news story has generated such polarised views. Even between me and the Mrs have had to settle to agree to disagree. My opinion tends to agree with Jeff. If Mr Hirano was so keen to offer his help and even offer an experimental treatment then he should have been banging on the doors of GOSH at the first opportunity. But he didn't. I generally don't agree with how public this whole tragic case has become and such a topic is not one to be discussed on the likes of Twitter and Facebook where idiots who read the headlines start attacking the parents and the staff of GOSH. But that's my view as I avoid most social media as much as possible barring the odd forum site. Even now the fighting continues about where the poor boy will die. It's just time to let the poor wee soul rest in peace.

  31. Surely this is how exchange rates should work. I bet Greece wish they had there own worthless currency rather than a euro they have no control over. If they did we could go on holiday in Greece reallycheep buy Greek products really cheep. Allowing money to flow into the country. Foreign products (for them) would be expensive so people would buy there own products and this would help there own country and currency recover and find its natural level. Germany which is doing really well would have a strong DM. BMW's would be much to expensive for foreigners to buy. Germany would struggle to export. For Germans foreign stuff would be cheep do they would buy foreign goods allowing money to flow out of the country. The euro was a master stroke for the rich country's of Europe struggling with strong currencies. The outcome is the rich countries got richer and the poorer struggled to keep up with no address. The deflated pound should help strengthen British businesses. Unfortunately we are to reliant on cheep foreign goods and U.K. Indestry is all but gone so the option of buying British is hard for many items . what brexit means really we don't know. It's as if haft the media, politicians and public want it to fail and the other half have a rose tinted view of how it could be. What ever happens it will take some time for a new economic ecosystem to emerge.

  32. Friend of mine works for JLR at Gaydon and had a Tesla on trial for a month. He drove it from there to Goodwood for the FoS. He then had to drive it to a local village to recharge it at a standard single-phase charging point for an hour in order to have enough charge to get to the nearest three-phase fast charging point - at Heathrow. When he got to Heathrow, he recharged it again in order to get home. He started from Goodwood at 1730, and got home at 0200 - if he'd have used his MGB, he's have been home by 2030. Not impressed. Tesla came dead last in reliability in the latest Which? ratings as well. I've been out in it, but there are so many dumb things about it that it's unreal: > No storage pockets in the doors or the centre console, just a glove box you can't reach from the driver's side > No separate charging cable storage area, so great dirty massive charge cable gets to mix with the other stuff in the boot. > Unlocking the doors to let a passenger in while you're in the driver's seat takes FOUR separate inputs to the touch screen > Rear headroom is awful, hard to just get in without bashing your brains out If that's the future, I'm keeping the past.

  33. Fantastic day out. It was certainly a day that we appeared never to be far away from the rain, but never under it (at least for the meeting and run - not sure about the return legs for the guys heading south!) as you can maybe tell from the two photies attached ... one of a slightly more sedate means of west coast transport. Route and roads were fantastic - I've never even been on the Oban - Lochgilphead road before. Good to meet you all and thanks especially for popping up at the roadside for the photos, Dave! Iain
