Cheers guys mine already has that version so maybe that's why the update just jumps back to the start.

Just that annoying lockup now,

How and when exactly does it happen Barry? If it's easier to get in touch with me directly please feel free to do so. I'll have a look into it for you!

That link talks about formatting as exfat not fat 32, what's the difference and what are you using Adam?

Posted

I must admit I've not heard the term exFAT before, but it appears it's a 'new' version of FAT32 and allows larger files to be handled better? Would certainly make sense given the name - FAT stands for File Allocation Table and exFAT is Extended FAT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExFAT

I haven't formatted my card since I installed it, so I would think it's FAT32.

Which card do you have Barry? One of the Sandisk Class 10s?

Posted

Yes the one recommended from my memory

It's a 32gb but strangely when empty only has 29.7gb of free space ???

Posted

Thought so yes, I remember the discussion from earlier in the thread. That should be up to the job then.

Having not as much free space as indicated on the label is normal, one gigabyte is "2 to the power 30", which is 7.3% larger than one billion. So 29.7GB translates to 31.9 billion bytes, which is '32GB' according to marketing people. (copied from the internet!)

Hi Adam,

MyMemory recommend two different cards for the Hero 3:

"SanDisk 32GB Mobile Ultra Micro SD (SDHC) Card - Class 10 UHS-1 + SD Adapter"

&

"SanDisk 32GB Ultra Android Micro SD (SDHC) Class 10 UHS-1 30MB/s"

http://www.mymemory.co.uk/compatible-memory/Digital_Camcorders/GoPro/GoPro+-+Hero+3_Memory_Cards?&filters=size:32768|brand:11|Class:class 10

Does it matter which one is used?

Thanks,

Mark
