Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Some interesting stuff on the different shooting modes (and more) on the Go Pro Hero Black ed. that I've just found, (not visited my favourite Go Pro forum for a bit, so missed the links) This is by a guy called Abe Kislevitz, who is Head Production Artist at GoPro Clicky Some good info on the resolution/frame rates to try, obviously, we have to take in to consideration the harsher environment a fast moving Westfield on stiff suspension and grippy tyres makes. But it sounds like 1080/60 medium should give some excelent results, and looses a bit of that extreme fisheye look. And I know it breaks the high frame rate/low rolling shutter rule of thumb, but if I can get some really smooth tarmac in a nice picturesque environment, I'm now itching to try 2.7K 30 Wide. (Do keep in mind though, that the harder you make the cameras processor work - frame rates and resolutions wise, the hotter it will get and more juice it will suck) 1

kevip6 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Hello Adam, I tried sending you a PM but I guess your inbox is full? Hello Adam, Do you sell (can you get) the GoPro Hero2 wifi backpac on it's own? I need just the backpac after mine had a disagreement with the road a 100kph alternatively is there a way to repair just the connection port on the backpac? Thanks Kev
AdamR Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Oops, sorry Kev - just cleared that out! That sounds nasty I've never looked into repairing the connectors before, but I believe they are the same as some sort of iPod or iPhone charger if that helps? I'm no good with electronics so wouldn't attempt such a repair myself, but it may be worth opening it up anyway! If you wanted a new Bacpac I can get those no problem though, would be £65 all in with WSCC discount and 1st Class postage. Lead time is approx 3 working days. The other option might be to 'upgrade' to a Hero3 Silver with the WiFi built in? I see HD2s go for around £130-150 depending on condition, so with a Hero3 Silver being approx £259 with WSCC discount, it would cost you around £50 to upgrade, effectively. (Note I don't even like to 'up-sell' but just thought I would mention that as it may be of interest?) Cheers!
kevip6 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Cheers Adam, I did think about the upgrade route but the above mentioned incident has produced a nice scrape on each of the camera corners and so resale values may be decreased thankfully the lens and inner workings are spot on and so I may as well just get this one back up to speed. £65 isn't so bad so I'll give you a call when I get paid in a week CheersKev
AdamR Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Ah, I see yeah, might as well stick with that you have then! Sure - anything else you need to know in the meantime just give me a shout

Just for the benifit of others, the connector is similar but not the same as the iphone connector I'll dig out the correct details of what it is and post them up

Mark (smokey mow) Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Thanks Mark, Soooooooooo, are they fixable? No idea I've never taken one apart but in theory if you can get all the bits then yes This is the correct connector for the I/O Bus Port http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/products/0435699/
AdamR Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 Bit of a bump, hoping it'll catch anyone who's subscribed to the thread... Couple of people have mentioned issues with their cameras - I just wanted to check everyone else who purchased one has been ok with theirs? If not - please do let me know! There is some more discussion in here: http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/101126-gopro-hero3/ Thanks,Adam
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Please note as this group buy is now closed, I've locked the thread on Adam's behalf, to avoid confusion with the new bulk buy which you can find here, clicky
