alexander72 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 we use NHS theatre gloves in the workshop......get them free....:-) and leather riggers when i'm not climbing.. (trees) Quote
Quinten Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 I know it's an old thread, and for fear of being accused of playing for the other team, but after just gone through 50 pair of ECP supplied disposable nitrile gloves in less than a winter, I'm looking for a better nitrile glove. Does anyone have a decent recommendation? Quote
Andrew O Byrne White - Ireland AO Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Aldi sell some decent workshop gloves quite regularly. They're the knitted type with a rubber coating. I use them when I'm doing less delicate work. They seem to last quite a while before the finger tips start to disintegrate and they still work with a touch screen phone. Quote
B.RAD Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Holy thread resurrection batman! I use mechanix gloves, they're very good. I also use my old mountain biking gloves, which are basically the same thing. As long as they're a good fit, I have no issues with fiddly work. Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 At the shows I normally pick up a box of blue nitrile gloves that I use for dirty stuff and a pack of the 10 woven gloves that I use for normal work. They do come in different sizes so if they are not lasting are they too tight a fit? Quote
Quinten Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 I'm not looking for the knitted/dipped type of gloves, just a good disposable one. @XTR2Turbo, the ones I bought were 'medium' but really a little bit too tight for my delicate hands, so maybe that's the reason they tear so easily. Quote
Stu Faulkner Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 I use these. http://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9mSs26aYXVYC4oAzItB4iA5;_ylu=X3oDMTByMWk2OWNtBGNvbG8DaXIyBHBvcwMyBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--/RV=2/RE=1484116506/RO=10/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.amazon.co.uk%2fEppco-Tiger-Orange-Nitrile-Gloves%2fdp%2fB00FSLV4KQ/RK=0/RS=40jI61Vut58hAjCo0ZiWVbxnhHI- there not cheap but they don't rip and have grip Quote
Thrustyjust Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 I dont use gloves on most jobs as find them awkward. But when I do mucky , oily jobs, I use nitrile gloves and being the wife works at a private dentists, she has found a few boxes out of date, so instead of being binned, they are in my workshop. Quote
DamperMan Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 I had a young engineer working with me a few years back. I bought it was a bit Brighton, when he asked if we could order some gloves. He'd used a particular Hyflex glove when working for a Porsche specialist. Anyway I found them really good. I mostly don't bother but, when I do I like them a lot. I class that as a Hove moment rather than full on Brighton moment. The feel and grip is really good. I forget I'm wearing them. In a cold day it's nice also. The tops of the fingers and hand is fully breathable. On really oily stuff they do get saturated, but they machine wash with my overalls, and reuse mine. Not cheep but very good. I've never torn one but they do develop holes when welding! Ansell HyFlex 11-618 Multi-purpose gloves, mechanical protection, Black, Size 9 (Pack of 12 pairs) Ansell £30.25 Quote

KugaWestie Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I just treat them as a consumable @Quinten I normally use euro car parts own make powdered latex, less than a fiver a box Quote
chris parkin Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I think you get what you pay for with nitrile gloves, I've had a box of the euro car parts ones that I tend to rip putting on, others that I've paid over a tenner for have been awesome and I've been able to take off and reuse. 1 Quote
