Just had my renewal though from Footman James and it has gone up over 20% since last year, not happy, was told about A Plan Insurance though this site and renewed with them today for £135 less, 45% cheaper the FJ!

Have not posted before but wanted to let others know of my experience today.

My the way this was for a 2011 Duratec with full roll cage , apparently not all insures will insure a car with a roll cage, interesting as it makes it a safer car...

Footman James have given excellent service and prices in the past; I used them for years, though went with Frank Piccles last time who were slightly less. But it seems FJ have had quite a big change in staff, or at least their organisation and are now much less "interested/knowledgeable" in some of the specialist fields that they used to be.

I went with Adrian Flux this year - they seem most friendly to bike engined cars. They just glossed over "modifications" though, and didn't ask about cages etc (or anything else for that matter)...so hope its not an issue as I also have a full cage.

Just spoke with the lovely Clare at A-Plan ahead of my early June renewal, quoted £79 with Highway on a much lower excess than I currently have with KGM through Frank Pickles. Don't get me wrong, KGM did me proud when I had my bump last year, great company and all and would recommend them, but we'll see what my renewal quote from them comes in at. Better sharpen your pencil Frank, there's some strong competition out there.

Thanks Clare, great talking with you, get back to you soon. :t-up::)

Yep, I'll be getting a comparison quote from A-Plan when Frank sends his renewal through in September.

It does sound like FJ have caught the inflated renewal quote bug, like most of the mainstream insurance brokers. No doubt they'd offer something cheaper if you went back with alternative quotes received.

My premium, as a new customer with them for this year was around the £200 mark, so it'll be interesting to see the renewal quotation when the time arrives. However I have, on principle, decided not to waste the cost of a call on going back with cheaper quotes in the hope for a reduction and will gladly just change cover to someone else offering something a bit more sensible.

Captain

you will probably find the underwriter is KGM (it is in my case) so you win both ways
