greenandmean
Lots of spot lights including a Lucas Flamethrower aimed straight into the eyes of oncoming drivers, woe betide the b*****d who didn't dip his lights coming towards me. Radiator blind operated from inside the car, lots of gauges not all of them useful, tiger tail hanging from the filler cap, cool eh!!!!!!!!!! Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO
I had a Mini in the 60s, back then they had a big speedo in the middle with a full width shelf under it, you could get different dashboards to fit over the speedo and shelf, some had a glove box with a hinged lid, some had a binacle for extra guages, and you could get them in different finishes, I went for the one with clocks and a black crackle effect finish, and it looked the dogs danglies, well I thought so anyway Capn, I had a Radiomobile 8 track player in the 70s and I also had one of those slot in 45rpm record players mine was called a Discotron, the only trouble was you had to carry around loads of 45s. GuitarmanUK
What about side pipe exhausts and Wolfrace wheels, or was that more the 70's oh and the ubiquitous furry dice hanging from the rear view mirror

Stuart
Furry seat covers and those windscreen top shades like a baseball cap peak. My 1965 HA Viva had the first (along with the aforementioned 5.5J steel wheels) and my 1967 Fiat 850 had the second. Both great cars in my memory but both had rusted to dust by the time they were about eight years old (so didn't own either of them long). Was so sick of wet carpets due to holes in floor and cars rusting to bits I then built a Mini Marcos.

SootySport
One other dimension to this thread is the name of Car accessory companies from the same era, as mentioned above Paddy Hopkirk was a well known one, Ripspeed now sell at Halfords and Broadspeed are now an online car retailer, many of you may remember them as Mini and Escort tuners/modifiers. KugaWestie
Dont forget the nice piece of tin foil over the front grille in winter to make the heater/engine run warmer
Stuart
How long did the Mini Marcos last? 90,000 miles and 7 years for me. 1976 - 1983. Sold it for more than it cost me to build it. Found it again on the MMOC website in 2000 and contacted the owners (in Sheffield) who had just sold it to a guy in Milan. So 24 years minimum and could still perhaps be going strong now.
