samcooke
Also tell him yours is a competition engine, bred from decades of successful rallying and circuit racing and that his is out of a Ford Probe.
Mark Stanton
Probe Engine Wasn't that the Jap thing that Ford used which was a bit pants
SteveF
Just wait for your mate's Zetec electronics to start playing up - then revel in the fact that virtually everything on a Xflow can be fixed with a basic set of spanners & a Haynes manual. P.S. My Xflow doesn't leak either - I use Valvoline Racing - which seems to be thick enough not to run throught the gaps Steve
stu999
Yep, Mazda based, AFAIK nothin like a Zetec engine. Still tell your mate though......
DickieB
Seconded - Valvoline Racing 20W50 - about £15 for 5 litres from Burtons.

redcarracer
The guy who built my engine put Valvoline into it. He said just use that, change regular and dont put any crap like Slick 50.
Mark Stanton
Sam The old frog eye ugly bug was no better - that lotsa-valve jobbie wasn't the best Ford have done. The Probe had comfy seats - but engine was bad and most of the spares were from some foreign oddbins bucket Proper Zetec = Mondeo
stu999
Earlier Scorpio's = DOHC 8V (why? ) Later Scorpio's = 16v 'RS 2000' type engine (chain driven camshafts). Pulse racing stuff.....
S8ight
DOHC 8V- surplus of pinto heads and not enough cams maybee ?
Major Stare
What is parts availability like for the x-Flow?
stu999
What is parts availability like for the x-Flow? If you are going scrapyard shopping, well they are getting as rare as hens teeth now But everything is still available if you know where to look for the stuff. Motorsport News, Classic Ford magazine, the Parts for Sale section on this board will keep a car on the road for years to come. And the engine is still very well supported by the specialist tuning companys (Burton, Vulcan etc, etc).
felters
...and when your Xflow does eventually expire you can always do the right thing and stick a Toyota 4AGE in there. There you go. Probably no more posts on this one now...
