nlash
I am new to Westfield ownership and have just bought an Seiw with a 1700 x-flow. It has recently undergone a rolling road test which showed a bhp of 137 at 6900rpm. The car is almost immaculate and drives a treat. Thing is, I have a collegue who is also into Westies and he has a Zetec engined car. He is now telling me that I have made a mistake and should have held out for a Zetec which is getting a little worrying. Does anyone here have a tuned x-flow with something good to tell me and boost my confidence here before I take a drive off Beachy Head! mb893
something good to tell me and boost my confidence here before I take a drive off Beachy Head! Nothing wrong with an X-Flow and if you're happy with it, that's all that counts. Your 'mate' probably paid a fair bit more for his than you did and is jealous of your car don't worry about it and just have fun. John Edit: Beachy head? Live in Sussex? Nice drive to the Surrey Westy owners club meeting this evening. Here for details: http://www.wscc.co.uk/area/surrey/ JC
Mark Stanton
Just enjoy it - X-flows are still good fun and (reasonably) economical to tweak Whatever you buy - the following week you'll find something else P.S. Don't forget to join the WSCC Loads of X-flow drivers are signed up already
DickieB
Crossflows are ace! I used to have one, changed it for something else, and have now gone back to Crossflows. And this one doesn't even leak anymore!
nlash
Thanks for the replies so far, they have a tendancy to leak then? Thinking about it, my first car was a Mk2 Escort and that leaked quite a bit. The SeiW I have just purchased is dry though so no worries on that score at the mo. I will of course be joining the wscc. Also thinking about giving the car a run out to Mallory this Sunday to see the Westies racing.
Blatman
If you're out and about in Leicestershire, there's also gonna be about 30 of us at a sprint at Curborough, near Lichfield, also on Sunday.....
Rob Navin
If I may be the voice of reason You have just purchased the pinical of automotive engineering with the finest engine known to man ! Any one who says different is just wrong Seriously thought there is nothing wrong with a x-flow car, I loved my first so much I replaced it with another one. Its all about having maximum fun in whatever car you have and which ever engine you run in it. Its also possible to out pace some of the big engined cars with a cross flow, isn't it Bl,atman If your X-flow is not leaking oil I would just have a quick check to see if there is any left in it Rob ( Could someone bring my coat to Curborough for me ?) redcarracer
My crossflow has 164bhp at 6750rpm. It was rebuilt with the highest quality parts and I have had no trouble with. The crossflow is still capable of winning races against far newer engines. Be different and stick with what you got. 8 valves, 1 cam, long live the crossflow.
