Done a couple of online compare the market type searches and the cheapest is coming in at £744!!!!!! So i penalized for a whole years driving with no accidents or convictions..... f****n fuming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Captain Colonial Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 what the devil??? I know mine had gone up under exactly the same circumstances by nearly 50% (which I managed to get down to a 10% savings, thank goodness), but that's ridiculous! Have you tried the non-comparison sites like Swindleton, Aviva, Direct Line and the NFU? How about altering the excess and annual mileage. number of drivers or adjusting your job title? Try here - a lot of info but worth trawling through it. Quote
housebeautician Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Its no wonder that two million cars aint insured at that rate. who can afford that sort of premium each year. They cant warrant that sort of increase by blaming it on uninsured drivers and increased claims, its just theft. Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Not defending anyone, but the origins of insurance was that the premiums were paid on day one but the claims came in over the year. If the money was invested in the stock market the profit came from the investment. Things have changed. Low return on investments and now the payments are spread throught the year. However, the ambulance chasing lawers are the main reason for the increases. Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 That's crazy if you are getting quoted figures like that no wonder all the kids are driving round with no insurance Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 not looking forwards to the renewal on the company fleet policy due in May Quote
Doug Dastardly Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Are you a young female suffering from lack of discrimination? Quote
frubpato? Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I must be old or stupid or something as my quote from the red phone crowd went down this year. Less than 400 for a A4 diesel avant. Are you asking for business use as well as SDP? that made a difference to mine. Quote
jeff oakley Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 After what is happening in Japan we are all going to see increases as the insurance industry is global. Low returns and high claims pumped up by the no win lot has made them hurt this last two years. Cars are now so expensive to repair after an accident that it is inevitabe they will continue to go up. Shopping around is the only way to do it now. Aviva were pretty good this year, the wifes MR2 never went up at all and was in the ball park for the last two years before, worth a punt Quote
Mark Stanton Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I know how you feel Andy mine went up from £600 to £900 in January Quote
stantman Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I had a discussion with Direct Line and got it within £10 of last years Honda accord tourer with 2.0 petrol engine is about £440, Direct line includes me driving up to 15,000 miles a year for business use for my employer at no extra charge. Still managed to get the Westy cheaper this year Quote
RedditchJay Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 got mine due in June on both the Westy and the Defender....... eeeeeek Quote
funbobby Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Mine went up to £771 from £297 with Swiftcover for my Freelander Sport 04, Ive told them to match one of my top three quotes of £256, £300 and £330 if they want to retain my business. Just shop around is my advise. Quote
Bananaman Posted March 16, 2011 Author Posted March 16, 2011 Just rang up directline.... £1400..........................what the devil!!!!!! I'm 45 driving a Deisel Mondeo, with 7 years NCB (6 points in last 5 years for 2 x SP30's) not 18 driving a chaved up Corsa??? Quote
Captain Colonial Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Just for fun, do another comparison site search using a fictitious name but with a better postcode, like the back end of nowhere in scenic Cornwall or such. I'm betting that's the kicker in here if your local crime rates have gone up. Quote
