Blatman Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Car dealers don't move house too often. Cars can be stolen from them too. Plus, it gives the thieves a nice easy starting point. But it's not just cars. Houses / businesses... you can easily see who has a burglar alarm and who hasn't. Google Earth and Google street view give a decent plan of the area for entry and escape. Any "covert" operative will tell you that the plan is incomplete without a decent escape route. Now you can plan without as much need for loitering / driving around a location several times. No physical attendance reduces the risk of being spotted and reported as behaving suspiciously. So I'm more against street view than for, and as such my premises have been removed from GoogleMaps since the day it went live... "It's the same as someone walking past..." Er, no, it's the same as *everyone in the whole world* walking past... Quote
Mark Stanton Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Have to say as much as I can appreciate the technology involved I do consider this is a step too far to have available in public domain for all the scrotes to see and utilise ....... Quote
pistonbroke Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Why is it are our lives are being ruined by pampering to these theiving scrote barstewards which cost this country and others countless millions of £'s what the devil dont we just remove em from the planet , end of , once caught instead of spending a fortune re cycling the barstewards so they can get out and offend again Quote

Blatman Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 "It's the same as someone walking past..." Er, no, it's the same as *everyone in the whole world* walking past... Quoting myself... 'cos I'm wrong. It the same as everyone in the world stopping at your front gate and looking in at your house and your stuff for as long as they want. So if you saw someone standing and staring at your house for half an hour, are you saying you woudn't go out and ask them what they are doing stood out there looking at your house for all that time? I would... Quote
pistonbroke Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Any potential T leaf could be very dissapointed if he finds his maticulously planned 'google' escape route is currently unusable because the water board chose this week to dig up the main sewer when there done along comes Telecom , then ........ Blatman Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 And then get stabbed You're probably right... Any potential T leaf could be very dissapointed if he finds his maticulously planned 'google' escape route is currently unusable because the water board chose this week to dig up the main But they would only need to do one recce to check, rather than spend several days "casing the joint" which is where the advantage lies. Less chance of being spotted doing the due dilligence if you use Google maps. Good intel the the key to success in any op, the GoogleMaps and GoogleEarth provide a great starting point which remove risk of early discovery during the planning stages... Quote
pistonbroke Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Perhaps its London living. Where we live, "in the sticks", we don't feel so threatened by this phenoninum. Then again it could mainly be down to "Enid" and "Liz" ,my watchdog neighbours , who both wear dresses made from curtain material Quote
dombanks Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 you lot sound like wound up paranoid daily mail readers.... youll be blaming dianas death and the rise of asylum seakers on streetview next. Quote
matt_c Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 My house isn't on there as I live in a private Cul-De-Sac and they didn't drive down it (Although I am aware that they have driven down private roads and Cul-De-Sacs before). I think depending on your location and depending on what is displayed streetview could be an issue. However I don't think this is as much of an issue as having your Name, telephone number/s and postal address displayed publicly online. Edit: Sadly some people have their personal details online without even realising. Quote
