Darrell O'Neill Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Personally, I dont have a problem with it at all. Having said that I've just spent an hour checking all the places I should'nt have been..... just in case. Quote
jak Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 You can opt out, I think. There's a mechanism for requesting an image to be removed anyway. You will have to prove the image is personal to you or it could be a malicious prank. Yep, just done that, got automated response email. See what happens. Got email from Google today, they have removed the image of my house and the rest of the street!! That was a better and quicker response than I expected. John The've only removed it from your screen , the rest of the world can still see your street and your house Quote
Martin Keene Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I just don't see how it covers its, what are likely to fairly sizeable costs, let alone make money. I dare say they sell a few versions of Earth Pro at $400 Ahh, so it's only free to the public. Business users have to pay, that makes a bit more sense. Quote
Plebbychris Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Another westfield sighting Westy I can even be seen kneeling next to it getting properly p*ssed off, trying to get it up to SVA standard. Not too concerned about privacy, it's on next door's driveway he he Do I win any prizes? Quote
carpetstu Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Some top end cars are stolen to order. I have done a search on some cars I know that tend to be at certan addresses and they are in the drives, clear as day, on the site. These include Lamborgini', Porsches, Rolls Royce and Aston Martins. It is one hell of a way for a car thief to do from home research. BTW my drive is clear of any cars lol Quote
Plebbychris Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 well there's a simple solution. Build a 15 foot fortified wall around your property, simple Plus it'll reduce all your insurance premiums. Might want to put a gate in somewhere though Quote

Indeed Quality, to think that a professional vehicle thief would spend his days looking for a target based on a photo of a street taken a year ago Quote
zvezdochka Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 I actually think the criminal fraternity will have sussed that street view is of little or no use - most images are at least a year old. No guarantee that a car will still be there or was only visiting, and probability of anyone actually clicking on a particular street and camera is very low. (Unless they already know it) Paranoia Quote
cast iron Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Even the SAS cant hide click b****y hell it cant be that secure if a b****y big van with a camera on the top can drive in Quote
