RichP Posted August 11, 2008 Share Posted August 11, 2008 Hi minisweeper I'm doing the same job in parallel to you - last night I was fitting the crank position sensor in much the same way as you. Looking at your pic in page 2 of this thread, did you ever manage to close up the gap between the sensor and the trigger wheel to about 1mm as recommended? I'm finding that because the trigger wheel is a slightly smaller diameter than the crank pulley, you can't get the sensor any closer than you appear to have done. minisweeper Posted August 11, 2008 Author Share Posted August 11, 2008 Hi Rich, I did actually stick another washer on my bolt and moved it a touch closer. It could take 2 washers at a push but then it was dangerously close looking. I managed to space my trigger wheel slightly further from the crank pulley so that it didnt get in the way and i could centre the sensor on the wheel properly. Blatman Posted August 12, 2008 Share Posted August 12, 2008 Fitting a TPS makes it a 3D map and is desirable. TPS mounts should be available from a carb or fuel system specialist. RichP Posted August 13, 2008 Share Posted August 13, 2008 Not familiar with Dellorto carbs, but is the principle not the same as a Webber? I bought a small adaptor from Emerald (only a couple of quid) that screws onto the end of the throttle spindle (don't do it up too tight and twist the spindle - use a locking tab or similar). You then invent a bracket that fits to the nearest handy bolt on the carb and holds the TPS in the right place (I used a piece of ally right angle). When it's all lined up file a flat in the Emerald adaptor to line up with the flat in the TPS and final asseble. Not difficult, but pics would be clearer for you. Can post tonight if you can wait, or there are some on Hammy's website (see post above). minisweeper Posted August 13, 2008 Author Share Posted August 13, 2008 I rang those guys up and I've ordered a TPS Spindle thing - the guy there assured me it was the same as the Dellortos as the Webbers and for the sake of 3 quid it seemed like a reasonable gamble. Will have to wait til it gets here before I can start to fashion a bracket I guess but any pictures you can take would be good. I looked at Hammys site but his carbs are totally different... Can you remember the torque setting for the crank pulley bolt btw? I don't have a manual. I might have to email you some pics - not a clue how to post them on here! Previous comments on here suggest that it doesnt need to be massively tight as long as it's not going to come loose. My Haynes suggests 33-38NM.
