I had sent an entry form and cheque for the Harewood Hill Climb, but as we know that event was sadly cancelled due to lack of entrants.  I have absolutely no track experiance, is this event suitable for a complete novice?  If it is and there are places left I'd love to go.

I'll get my cheque off today.  I thought about Elvington too, but again, a bit unsure about the novice bit - I don't need an Evo or Subaru breathing down the back of my neck! Also, I would need it to be on a weekend.

The thing is Jeff if youve never done a track day most organisers will have different slots for different types of experience unless its what they call "open pit lane" then you go out when you want and your out with everybody whatever there experience, also although I have never done Elvington I have heard it has large run off areas so if you over do it its not too much of a problem. Maybe if I can find a weekend one soon I,ll let you know and we can go on the same day, track days are also a way of finding out just what your car is capable of without anything coming the other way.

Thanks again Mike,

If elvington do have something on at the wekend I'd be interested in going along.

A query regarding Mallory Park track day.  On the points list attached to the registration form, point 2 refers to oil catch tanks of 1 litre capacity being compulsory.  I suspect I'm being really stupid here, but I don't know what an oil catch tank is; is it the engine sump??  My engine is a standard 3.9 EFI V8.  Can anyone please clarify this for a complete numptie.

Do you have an engine breather pipe venting to fresh air ?? - this simply needs to be directed into a container of 1 litre capacity  ;)  ;)  ;)

Mallory is most suitable for novices and you can be given all the advice and guidance you need from experienced drivers and WSCC mebers on hand - to sit in with you or you can jump in with thm as a passenger  ;)  :D

WSCC Mallory 2006 was my first Track Day.  Absolute hoot.  Well worth it.

Jeff my daughter thinks she's coming and she hasn't driven the Westie at all yet so you won't be the most novice novice - if you get my drift.

I'm in - cheque sent and confirmed.  We'll see just how novice anyone can be :D  :D   At least now your daughter doesn't need to worry about being the only total novice. :D
