melt Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Not been much support for the black car, still think it's got a lot going for it, but I am biased Quote
slippy Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Black is sexy and if I was building/buying new I would probably go for it and maybe some black/anodised alloys to boot Quote
Guest Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 My avatar would suggest I am biased. But I also like the orange and black combination. Dark colours do show up any imperfections in the GRP finish to a greater extent. I saw a recent BRG factory built car and it seemed very 'rippley'. But the bonnet must have weighed only about half mine. Something to watch though. Drives the same, whatever the colour. Cheers, John Quote
Ted Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 WRG with dark grey/green interior, but then I would say that. Whatever the colour, always use headlights!! TED Quote
Mark B Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Dark blue with black interior and black windscreen surround etc, just like mine infact...... If I went for a yellow car I'd still go for an all black interior etc, best combination imo.... Quote
davidgh Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 I seem to remember seeing a chart in the back of a Mercedes brochure that showed the reflected lumens values for various paint colours and the best colour was the hearing aid beige that all the German taxis use. The Mercedes analysis leaves out one important factor -- IIRC, the human eye is more sensitive to colours near the middle of the visible spectrum (green, yellow) than to those at the ends (especially, I think, the top end). This is why engineering plant (JCBs, etc.) is almost always yellow. So from the safety point of view, yellow probably is better than purple -- sorry Andy Driving with lights on is sensible anyway, as you have about the same front profile as a motor-cycle on its side! Aesthetically, however, orange has it.........even over ivory Quote
Bananaman Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 How about Bog House Blue............... Yellow is I do like Orange, have a look at D.Hodders car, it's the Mutts.................... I also have a hankering after Kawasaki Green, however this is what was spec'd on Blatmans car which didn't quite seem to come out as it should.. I'm sure orange is the fastest colour...... What do you think Mr Hussey Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Yellow of course especially for the over fifties club But i did like Megablade Pauls Lilac and black combo Quote
sandhurst Posted September 23, 2005 Author Posted September 23, 2005 Thanks to all for the interesting replies [so far]. I started off being uncertain whether to go for BRG or CY but the situation may have worsened since other "hats" have now been thrown into the ring! In fact, apart from body colours x & y [i do not wish to offend any proud owners] I think they all look good - must be the car itself. At the moment my feeling is that I am going to go for Chrome Yellow, drive with my lights on, look out for muppets and put up with the flies [but things may change]. Dave [i used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure] Quote
chappers Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 No takers for bright blue? Either colour will be good, or yellow with a green stripe - though if I were to build one and intended on keeping it for a long while I would go for a totally black interior then it would be easy to have a re-body when you fancy a change without having to change colour coordinated seats, gear lever gators etc. Kev. sandhurst Posted September 23, 2005 Author Posted September 23, 2005 Good comment Kev. Even though I have not yet got my Westy, I WISH I COULD CHANGE MY BODY NOW! Dave Quote
davidgh Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 I'm sure orange is the fastest colour...... What do you think Mr Hussey Orange was a good tip, Andy -- picked it up from Del & Julie..................... .........but it doesn't seem to be quite as fast as "powder puff pink" Quote
Jed Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Slightly OT but..... ...when I cycle to work wearing a plain yellow top I get more motorists cut me up/knock me off than if I wear a mid blue top like the colour of Wookies car. Don't ask me why, it just happens. My choice would be orange or red, or in 40th Anniversary colour scheme.....but that'll be the next car. Quote
Darrell O'Neill Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Blue and Yellow is the way to go Gives you another 25BHP aswell.... Quote
