Westfieldman Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Blatman was you driving at Mallory last friday Quote
mad lon Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 99% of people who buy westfields do so because they intend to go on track. Intertested to know where this statistic came from I guess obviously , every westy owner i have ever met in person has had, or has planned to take their car on track. Except those that buy them in kit build them then sell them, the build bit being the fun. Personnally i can't see the point of them for anything other than track use. Waiting to be flamed. Kinell.I had no intention of taking mine on't track when I bought it.It's been a superb everyday car and after reading this thread have decided that trackdays are too expensive for me.Besides I wos grateful SWMBO agreed that I could buy an expensive toy.I think tracking it would be pushing it a bit in our circumstances. Now what I'm about to say has nothing to do with the events at mallory; as I wasn't there and as such will make no comments............... But YOU may not see the point in a westfield "for anything other than track use"........................ You haven't met the Manc/Lancs/Yorkie crew then??? Consider yourself well and truly flamed young man Quote

Nick M Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 I was really going to get one to do the monthly shopping in. I used to take mine to B&Q whenever I needed to get some planks of wood or something long which wouldn't fit in my Fiat Cinquecento* *so, basically anything over about 18" long.... Quote

a4drk Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Why can't this bloke mark, tow his car & thro it in a field ? Then claim his insurance? I saw someone do that at Knockhill last year after a trackday...... How bad is the car ? - any photos ? I could donate a set of front indicators... D Quote
timd Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Why can't this bloke mark, tow his car & thro it in a field ? Then claim his insurance? I saw someone do that at Knockhill last year after a trackday...... Probably (and I've never met the guy so am guessing) cos he's more honest than that, and doesn't want to commit insurance fraud and put everyone else's premiums up. Quote
Frau Vesty Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Even if he wanted to defraud his insurance company, I think there's been quite sufficient said about it on here to make sure they would find out about it! There are pictures of the car in some of the other Mallory threads. Quote

Martin Keene Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Why can't this bloke mark, tow his car & thro it in a field ? Then claim his insurance? I saw someone do that at Knockhill last year after a trackday...... How bad is the car ? - any photos ? I could donate a set of front indicators... D Because the car is so heavily damage it would be fairly obvious to most people that it would have caused a large hole in the scenery where it ended up... Which is a bit harder to create than chucking a car in a field. Edited to add: The car is also un-towable, because it sits on 3 wheels and it's sump... Quote
oioi Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Why can't this bloke mark, tow his car & thro it in a field ? Then claim his insurance? I saw someone do that at Knockhill last year after a trackday...... there are a few photogrphers who make quite a nice living out of photoing cars at trackdays, especially crashed ones. they then sell these photos to the insurance company who then make those nice people with blue tits on theyre heads come and visit. cidersurfer Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 then make those nice people with blue tits on theyre heads come and visit. I like Blue Tits and Great Tits, they're great fun to watch Quote
perksy Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Why can't this bloke mark, tow his car & thro it in a field ? Then claim his insurance? Because He might Not Fancy Doing 4 Years Inside for Fraud And Because He's a Decent Honest Lad Quote
