Major Stare Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 Im contemplating upgrading my digital camera - after Curborough i realised i need a better lens/zoom faccility. Any reccomendations? Ive found this webby and THIS seems VERY tempting?! Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 I have the previous model and have been very pleased with it and considering I paid £400 for it 3 years ago this one seems a bargain. Buy it Barry Quote
mud Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 sony dsc v3 . the absolute b*****k ! a unique feature is night focus which you will need more than you realise, and considering it is manufactured by sony you can buy them online with a bit of googling for under £350 and know that you wont have to upgrade it for a long time because it ticks all the right boxes. Major Stare Posted July 3, 2005 Author Posted July 3, 2005 That Sony is out of my budget Plus the camera must use XD cards! Budget is £200.00 at the moment unless i sell my 6 month old Olympus mju:300 camera soon Quote
Paul M Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 I've had the Fuji about 6 months. I paid £250 for it and am very pleased with it. The price you've got their makes it a bargain. Quote
JonnyBoy Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Sony p200, awesome little camera with high res video (with MS pro) and 7.2mp. the pictures are really sharp and we got one from JEssops for 230quid! review of 5500 here Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 My, and my son's experience with Fuji cameras has been good. The colour rendering is excellent, and using AA batteries is, IMHO, desirable 'cos they're cheap in NMh form and easily rechargeable. All that said, though, for action shots you'd go a long way to beat a real film camera for instantaneous response. I get better action shots with my 30 year old Rolleiflex 35 SLR on 400 ASA film than with any digital camera I've tried. Just my two-pennyworth. Quote
Blatman Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 I get better action shots with my 30 year old Rolleiflex 35 SLR on 400 ASA film than with any digital camera I've tried. Have you tried a Nikon D70 or a Canon EOS300? Just curious... Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 No Blatters, I haven't. Are they quick on the uptake? Edited to say that the trouble with digital cameras is that you spend shed loads on the dog's danglies today and next week it's obsolete. Quote
Blatman Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 D70 is a semi pro SLR type camera. It's the tits and as soon as I have finished the winter upgrades to the sprint car, I'll be buying one... EOS300 is it's primary rival and is equally fast at both boot up and frame capture. Quote
pistonbroke Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 top sight for tech info scuse speeling its early for mwa ! Quote
StuartMackay Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Got a NIkon D70, and am highly delighted with it in terms of ease of operation, picture quality and flexibility. <--- My avatar was a highly reduced image taken with it! Quote
scott beeland Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Was gonna suggest the Minolta Dimage z3 which has taken some crackin shots for me....but then I see you only want an XD card camera and this one uses SD Quote
steppenwolf Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 The Fuji at this price is an absolute bargain and the zoom is a real zoom not a digital one. For the money, it'd be hard to beat and I always prefer a larger camera for stability and this one is 'SLR styled' so fits this bill too. With this in mind, remember it is not a 'pocket' camera!
