What to do now

I was all set to go and order a 1800Q kit on sunday at Autosport but I've just been told by westfield I can't have one as they can't get the weber carbs and don't have a clue

when they'll be able to get any.  :(

I'm gutted what do I do now? I can't afford the throttle body kit.

Just my luck..Save up for ages and then when I have the cash I can't have the kit...   :bangshead:  :bangshead:

You could try to find the carbs yourself? They're a little like gold dust from what I understand, but you might be able to pick up a set...

People are always upgrading from carbs to throttle bodies (the purchaser of my yellow car was planning to do it) so you should be able to find some by the time you need them.

Yeh I could try and find them myself. I'll have to buy all the modules bar the engine one and then try and source all the engine parts myself. Bit of a pain as I'm crap at sorting stuff out. I just like to build..  :D  Hence the modular kit was purrrfect for me..  ;)

Surely you can get the engine module off them as well, less the carbs. Source them elsewhere and then ask the factory what jets to put in them. Job done.

I'm looking for carbs too.  I think its just the carbs not the linkage kit etc that aren't being manufactured.  Why not take the carbs off the price of the kit then source it yourself.  Have a look on the following web pages:

www.webcon.co.uk

www.dellorto.co.uk

From what I've read dellorto are better carbs anyway.

Hope this helps.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along once they're back from Autosport  :p

But don't you have to watch out for OEM carbs; I believe quite a few don't have the adjustability of the off the shelf models. (For things like progression).

Or take a look at Webcon directly...

yep saw that one. looks quite tempting, but to be honest the 120BHP bit put me off.

I think the plan will be to order the whole 1800Q package, minus the carbs and alpha ignition.

That way I can save up while building and hopefully by the time its nearly finished I'll be able to stump up the cash for TB's :D:D

Why not put  TBs on the special offer? I am getting the special offer tomorrow. Add in cams from the 2.0 ltr and 150BHP is yours.

Don't forget if you use a post 95 engine you will need to fit a cat.

John.
