jonlewis Posted July 1, 2003 Share Posted July 1, 2003 I think it is fair to say the Zetec was not considered an exciting and characterful engine in it's original installation. Neither was a CVH or a Pinto. Add a free flowing exhaust and tune it well and it all becomes a different story. I am personally not a Turbo person, but that is not to say everyone shares my views. Dependant on where the test was done, the extra torque alone could be enough to make the difference. Weight distribution could also be a factor dependant upon the installation. Martin Keene Posted July 1, 2003 Share Posted July 1, 2003 I was reading last night about the latest version of the Ariel Atom which has adopted the Honda Vtec out of the Civic Type R Even better they are getting Jap spec. ones which are rated at 220bhp..... Now that sounds a better plan....... The UK '04 model year Type R will also get the full 220bhp, Honda are going to fit the jap spec managment system to release the full pony count. We are a supplier to Honda and this came from our buyer, apparently it's something they planned from day 1 to give it a mid-life kick up the ass... I've never been so disappointed on a test drive.
