Hi, 

 

I'll be doing the normal convoy up on Sunday morning.

 

We will meet at the A38/A50 services (DE65 6DX) at 845am for a 9am departure, aiming to land at the Whitworth Centre for 10am. We will be taking the B roads as much as possible and avoiding the Matlock traffic.

Good to see so many Westfields at the Peak District meet. Started the day with Bakewell Tart at the Whitworth Centre- it wouldn't be a Peaky Cake eating day if you didn't.

 

I thought I would let the 17 others go on the drive into the peaks and fight with traffic without me, and I would pop down to Derby to see my cousin, so when the tail end of the group got lost after 300 yards and had to turn round I carried on over the railway line up to Winster, and then on to Fenny Bentley, Ashbourne, Idridgehay ending up at the family farm near Duffield. I hope you all caught up in the end?

 

 

I came home via Belper, Ambergate, Oakerthorpe, Wessington and Kelstedge to find more cake waiting at home

Can't beat cake and cars mixed in equal measure.

Thanks @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative for another great day around the Peaks with great company as usual. Thanks also to @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AOfor taking the lead when we got split up from the group.

Though I think we have a cake challenger @AndrewBClarke@aegwith little Oliver who had a massive slice of carrot cake. I left my cake unattended for a minute and some of it went missing. Note to self don't let Sue looking after the cake🤣

Luke has been well trained hasn't he? I am not sure what happened right at the back but I had a train of cars behind me as far as my eye could see. 

 

We had 18 cars meeting at The Whitworth Centre for breakfast, as has been expertly photographed. Thank you to Rob for bringing so many people up from the Derby area and transporting John's brother in law. We had a special couple with us today all the way from Australia, @Johny boyand his sister and brother in law.

 

We went on our travels and on some beautifully empty roads to land at Hulme End, the best place to go on a Bank Holiday. I was surprised to find some Westfield's already there, so thank you Ian for leading them. We were served and seated outside with great ease.

Steve and Vicky's new MK caused a bit of a stir, another MX5 engine and watch out, turbo incoming soon!

 

 

After a good tyre kick and refreshments it was time for some to head home but we went on for more cake. Steve got his google map out and we agreed a route that avoided any Bank Holiday traffic, this would take us to Marsh Farm cafe, Kelstedge.

 

Steve and Vicky are also well trained

 

 

Andy was busy getting his own back after Sue had nibbled his cake at Hulme End

 

 

@aeg was missing out today as the Andrew's battled for the biggest slice

It's a good day when there are too many cars and people to get on camera, it's been fantastic to see you all, I hope you all enjoyed it and got home safely, thanks for coming.

I mean they're like cakes ....... Just a lot smaller ... 

 

My boys just cried himself to sleep at the thought of cake coming in such small portions!
