Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted August 25, 2023 Share Posted August 25, 2023 My guess is that it commemorates the deaths of some allied soldiers who were holed up by Germans in the crypt of a church in France or Belgium in WW2. The damage is bullet holes from attacking German guns.
