KugaWestie Posted April 9, 2020 Author Posted April 9, 2020 Work on the passenger door fit is complete
ajpearson Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 That looks amazing, cant believe the transformation from the before pictures. Are you keeping track of hours spent working, or do you not want to

Are you keeping track of hours spent working, or do you not want to Thanks. No I am not keeping a track on the hours spent working on the car. It would be a scary amount if I had though!
Steve (sdh2903) Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 The biggest compliment you can give, is that those doors now look like they are meant to be there! Top work

Top work Thanks Steve. I have still got the drivers door to do yet but hopefully I have learnt a few things getting the passenger door done!
KugaWestie Posted April 10, 2020 Author Posted April 10, 2020 Big tidy up today in the garage and inside the car. God knows how much dust I hoovered up! Once that was done it was time to turn the car around in the garage so I can start on the drivers side of the bodywork.
Robin Parker (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Looks like a bit of a tight squeeze in the garage.
Alan Cutler (Adge) - Dorset AO Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Nice to be able to get a good view of the car with it rolled outside. N/S Looks great. Keep it up.
KugaWestie Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 I have sanded all of the drivers side of the car with 80 grit. Next I made a start with the filler.
WINGNUT Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Great work Gary, loving reading this build. Cars looking beautiful mate 👍
KugaWestie Posted April 13, 2020 Author Posted April 13, 2020 Another day making dust!!! I sanded all down the drivers side of the car and then applied a second pass of filler. Whilst waiting for the filler to harden off, I cut out the drivers front wing vent hole. I also took the drivers side wheels off and tidied up the arch return lips With the filler fully cured, I sanded back the rear wing. This is almost finished but there were a couple of areas that needed a final coat of filler.
KugaWestie Posted April 14, 2020 Author Posted April 14, 2020 I am thinking of fitting one of these combined slimline strip lights by letting it into the body underneath the boot lid. https://www.dun-bri.com/Brands/Dun-B...se-Lamp-334200 The light has 18 LED’s, 12 of these are Fog and 6 are reverse. If I mount the lamp unit centrally, then 9 Fog LED’s would be on the offside of the car which complies with IVA. BUT 3 of the fog LED’s would be on the drivers side of the car. The IVA regs state that “At least one Fog lamp must be on the centreline or to the offside of the vehicle” You can fit a maximum of two fog lights, but at least one must be on the centreline or offside. So I think it would comply with regs, but I am not 100% sure. What is everyone’s opinion on the rules?
Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 I don’t see any issue Gary just so long as there are more red lights to The offside of the centre line.
IainCameron Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 I couldn't get the link to work, but I think I found the striplight for £14.74, and 248mm long. It looks to me like they're meant to be fitted as a pair, with the fogs outboard, obviously. I'm sure that the 12 LEDs count as one individual fog light, so technically if you fitted one striplight centrally, the light would span a central and offside position (!) but I wouldn't like to chance it if you're setting it into the body. But then again, I'm neither an IVA tester nor a body filling expert
