Yet more sanding and filling on the rear passenger arch

I always seem to have a bit of filler left over, so I have started using the spare up on the front passenger wing

Labour of love Gary. Keep up the good work. 👍

Thanks Chris. It’s tough to keep going at times as it feels like it is relentless!

Bodywork is always the same on restorations, too. It can be a grim relentless task at times, that feels like it will never end. It does though, and when the prep has been done well enough that it’s driven you to despair, you know that when you finally get it to paint, the end result will be stunning.

I sanded back again this afternoon and then applied a couple of coats of etch primer on the rear passenger wing

The primer has shown up where some more fine filling is needed, so more to be done

I also sanded back the front passenger wing filler, so more to be done here as well now

  • 2 weeks later...

It has been a few very tough days.
My father got admitted to hospital last Weds lunchtime and sadly passed away Saturday Lunchtime, with the decision having to be taken to turn the support machines off. A victim of Covid 19 which brought on chronic pneumonia.

It is so so sad. Nobody could visit, only 10 allowed to the funeral, not sure mum can attend due to her age etc etc. Really could not get much worse.

On top of that we have had to furlough all our employees and have also decided to mothball the company until the end of April. I really don’t know what the future holds at present.

So over the last few days I have been trying to keep myself busy pottering away on the car.

On the passenger door I realised that I had cut away slightly too much of the moulding, so when the door seal was fitted it did not actually seal on the door.

So I bonded a section of fibreglass onto the body

Then I trimmed it and glassed over it

Next job was to remove the door and start filling again
