Before removing the bonnet to allow me to sand the filled section at the front of the bonnet, I decided to cut out the front of the bonnet scoop.

I need to fill the cut out gap between the inner and outer skins next

Whilst in the cutting mood, I had a go at one of the side vents using a diamond wheel in the Dremel.

The cut out needs sanding and tidying but I am pleased with how it came out

More to be done but the gaps are now filled totally. Sanding and shaping next!

The bonnet is close enough for now, so onto the bonnet aperture.

Sanded at 80 grit and then some filler applied where needed

As much as I would like to do the prep work by spraying, I simply do not have the set up, equipment, PPE, oven, dust free environment etc to be able to do this.

So I spoke to UPol technical department and I am using the products they recommended for hand application

UPol Acid #8 Etch Primer followed by UPol P88 High Build Nitrocellulose primer thinned 1:1

So I am following their advice

Thanks. Just I always assumed etch primer some how reacted with metal to key. Just didn’t know it would work with plastic too

Once this had dried I decided to tackle the bonnet latches/locks. I just need to order some fixing bolts for them and that will be another job complete.
