Hey Gary, since you’ve almost finished this one, fancy another? Advert in the local rag this weekend for a Cobretti with an RV8 for £2500.

No photos to show for it, but over the last few days I have been glassing the boot to the body. I completed this today.

Very fumey in the garage even with all doors and windows open! 😷

I have made a start on the bodywork support brackets at the front of the car

These will need to be welded to the chassis. I am hoping I can also use them as a bracket to support the bonnet gas struts

Before fixing the front of the body I want to refit the radiator and get it supported properly as there is still a bit of flex in the front of the body which will allow a bit more wiggle room. The rad is not finished yet, so whilst waiting for it I decided to attack the mould lines with the DA machine to get the worst of the mould lines off.

So pink dust is now absolutely everywhere!

Was that polo shirt white when you put it on this morning?

I have made some progress fixing the bodywork over the last few days, it might not look like much progress but lots of measuring, fiddling , clamping and adjusting has taken place. I am pretty pleased with how I have got it now.

Front brackets which will also hold the bracket for the bonnet gas strut. I have welded in a stiffening gusset on the rear of the main plate.

Once these were were completed both sides, I was not happy with the amount of flex on the main tub body at the rear of the engine bay, so I added another couple of brackets.

Most of the measuring and fiddling was to make sure when the body was fixed the bonnet would follow the shape of the body nicely and also clear the air filter.

With that complete, I have put a couple of pop rivets into the cills, one at the front and rear on each side.

I purposely wound the suspension up fairly high a while ago, that’s quite evident now!

Last night I made up some brackets for the radiator mounting, and tonight I fitted the radiator complete with the fan.
