I know how much work that involves...you'd best get a bulk order in for the Hobnobs Gary - I think Chris just earned a lifetime supply.

I still cannot believe he offered to do it! I refused the offer at first telling him he was mad. Forever grateful I am

Great work , really neat and tidy and having had to make and sort a few looms appreciate just how much time and effort go into it

What you can see are mostly the sub looms to allow for testing and easy removal of items, once Gary finalises the steering column, heater and wiper motor positions I will then loom wrap those looms and tidy up

Yes building a loom is very time consuming many hours planning, checking every joint is soldered and crimped

Fingers crossed it works as designed in the car

Blimey, those "in progress" photos of the loom in build give a taste of the time, thought and effort that goes into it. Having not done it, never considered the effort required. Well done. More great progress.

Over the last couple of evenings I have been sorting out my throttle cable.

Looking at the bulkhead and servo position, the cable had to go through right in the top corner above the accelerator pedal. So I drilled the hole for it

That was the moment I realised I needed to alter the pedal

Last night I extended the pedal and run the cable through to the engine

I came up with a cable clamp and rigged it up temporarily.

On testing the pedal it felt a bit stiff, so I decided to think about it for a day. When I tried it again tonight I decided it needed to change.

Here is the modification, basically I have raised the pivot point making the pivot lever on the cable side shorter and the pedal side longer. The result is a nice smooth feeling pedal. The pedal bottoms out nicely onto the bulkhead right on WOT as well. So I am glad I persevered.IMG_3586.thumb.JPG.ffd434ecfb2d43e668dd1b2aff6598fe.JPG

I have started to look at exhaust mounts at the rear of the car. As we know rubber bobbins need to be in compression so I came up with a sketch design.

Having reviewed positions under the car, I decided to utilise some threaded holes on the bottom of the diff that have no use at present.

Its work in progress but I am pleased with how it has come out so far. I intend to modify the design  of the bracket that takes the bobbin and then make one for the other side. The pleasing thing is I have managed to position the mount where the pipes join so can kill two birds with one stone on the mounting/joint.

First exhaust mount completed. It needs to be cleaned up and sprayed eventually, but probably once the system is complete

Back home today after a week away (half term) in Devon wth the family, and a couple of bits had arrived whilst I was away meaning I could knock off one job that has been on the to do list for a while.

The Fitech unit includes a coolant temperature sender, but there was nowhere for it to go.

There is a triangular flat section on the inlet manifold just behind the thermostat that looked a possibility.

So I took the housing back off and removed the thermostat for a look, which confirmed my hopes. I had been waiting for a drill bit and a tap to arrive which were on the doormat today, so the sender is now fitted, all swarf vacuumed out of the manifold and then thermostat and housing refitted

I have also also started to have a look at coolant hoses.

Its all work in progress but not a bad start

That bit of casting was a handy find!

I like the looks of that injection system for something like your build; I’ve seen similar on a few restorod type V8 muscle cars. Helps keep a more period look, but without the hassle of carbs.

Yep it has worked out well with the sender.

The injection system is exactly what I wanted to achieve, a period look but flick the key and it will start every time

I ordered some custom made exhaust bends to start the runs from the manifold downpipes towards the cherry bomb centre silencers and they arrived a few days ago.

I have started to make up the drivers side pipework. So the custom bend was positioned and then another bend I already had got chopped and tacked on.
