Gary Taylor Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 Congratulations on the pass, really well deserved. now to get cracking on the registration paperwork.
Nick Mace Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 That is great news! Perfect timing too with (hopefully) some warmer weather on the way and some relaxation in covid restrictions.
KugaWestie Posted March 25, 2021 Author Posted March 25, 2021 Thanks for all the kind comments everyone 👍🏻 Now it is time to get the registration paperwork sent off and then finish the car off properly
KugaWestie Posted March 26, 2021 Author Posted March 26, 2021 DVLA Forms and information pack sorted this morning in the post to Swansea. Hopefully it wont take too long!
Glen_I Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Where's the head rests gone? I think they would make a great pair off knee rests for gardening 🙈
Kingster Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 The IVA rules can often be a bit mad. I mean how is someone’s head meant to end up in contact with the “sharp edges” on that filler cap? If they somehow end up nutting that, then the sharp edge is the least of their worries! (steering wheel next!)
corsechris Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 The external projections are as much about pedestrian safety as occupants...but yes, if your head managed to hit that cap I’d imagine things are already pretty much FUBAR but that would certainly finish the job. The rules are complicated enough as they are, if they tried to create endless conditions and exemptions it would be utterly unworkable.
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 The projections thing was once explained to me by an IVA inspector, (and ex Club member, multiple kit car owner), as yes, if as a pedestrian, you get hit by “that” edge, you’re already going to have many broken bones; however, the radius could be the difference between you waiting for an ambulance with your legs smashed, and you waiting for a hearse with an artery ripped open. Its not about necessarily avoiding injury, but managing it, limiting it, and ultimately improving long term prognosis

Most cars have their filler caps on the side where they’re much more likely to see a glancing blow with a pedestrian. the problem is the rules can’t be written for every different position or scenario.
