Stuart Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 @Dan1501 hasn't been on the forum since 10th Feb either Quote
simon walton Posted April 23, 2023 Author Posted April 23, 2023 Hi all , still no contact from Dan1501 so will open up the space in one week Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 @simon walton I'm assuming you've tried to contact Dan directly via email, too? - he's showing as not having visited the forum since the 10th of Feb. If not, I'm happy to forward on a message to the email address we have on file for him. But I think you're right in giving it one more week, before offering the place elsewhere. Quote

simon walton Posted June 26, 2023 Author Posted June 26, 2023 Hi all , less than 6 weeks , I have just had a really good three days in Scotland with Scottish branch of this club , for wales we are going to need to decide our driving format !!!! We can discuss it Friday evening at the hotel Quote
Stuart Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 @simon walton I mentioned this early on, but do you/will you have the route in .gpx for loading to satnav? IME so much easier to keep us all together if others have the route as well as the leader Quote
AndrewBClarke Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 The adventure starts tomorrow. I’ve packed the sunscreen in case the severe weather warnings are wrong!! Checked the car out. Haven’t bothered cleaning it as what’s the point as it’s going to get dirty again en route. Despite the atrocious weather forecast we are going in the Westfield with Pete acting as co-pilot. 1st leg is 265 miles from mid Lincolnshire to Llanberis in Snowdonia. About 5hrs of mostly relatively boring roads. Meeting up with the others for a meal at the Royal Victoria Hotel and looking forward to some ‘proper’ driving over the weekend. 3 Quote
Stuart Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 I'm still vacillating on the Westy or my other convertible. Current mountain forecast for Snowdonia for Sat is 100% chance of 22mm of rain with possible local flash flooding 😯 Final call in the morning...... Quote
AndrewBClarke Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Part 1 In the end there were 5 cars but only one of them was a Westfield. The pre departure weather forecast was absolutely horrendous so the sensible ones came in their Tin tops. For us, the trip started on the Friday with a 240 mile trip from Lincolnshire to North Wales. Weather was dodgy but started off without roof but soon had to revert to plan b and put the half hood on. Left home at 10 and with bad traffic etc we arrived at about 5.30 😁 The others we already there so we all got together for an evening meal at the hotel. Saturday was forecast to be interesting but not to be perturbed we simply put on the half hood again 🤪 The route was split into 4 - before cake & coffee, before lunch, before afternoon cake and tea and before evening meal. Roughly 200 miles of fantastic puddle splashing. Surprisingly, even with Storm Antoni, the roof came off for some of the afternoon. The others were probably relieved that they had come in cars with roofs!! Sunday was again planned around 4 routes totalling 200 miles. So after a full English, we set off again but without the roof on (until a downpour made us change our plans). On Monday, it was time to come back to the real world and in typical style, the weather was fine do no roof for the long trip home. Continued in part 2 8 Quote
Popular Post AndrewBClarke Posted August 7, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 7, 2023 Part 2. Roll of Honour. @simon walton in his people carrier. Well organised. Thank you. @Stuart in his BMW M240i @SteveB21 in his F type @Andy Westwood and Sue in their Hyundai i40. Sorry no photo of the car. 🤪 Now some random photos of the group, views, and obviously my car 😁 About 900 miles in ‘challenging’ UK weather. Eaten far too much. Gave up competing with @Andy Westwood on the cake front. But a really good time. I’m off for a long sleep now……… 9 1 Quote
SteveB21 Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Another thank you to @simon walton for organising. A few more random pictures: The last stop on Sunday: Can't decide which sounded better - The Westfield's V8 or the Jag's V6 in sport mode... 7 Quote
