@Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO has come up with a good video/photo opportunity idea. We may have a brief stop at Stafford services to discuss unless we can get it sorted on here.

The idea is roughly

M6 is is 4 lanes from J15 downwards and has 60mph limit with average speed cams etc. Let's try to get as many rows of Westies as we can manage across all 4 lanes with one 360 camera car at the front and one at the back diagonally opposite.

Probably best to do it as soon as we're out of Stafford services.

We shouldn't cause too much conflict with other users due to the 60 limit etc.

I'm hoping to join the convoy at Hilton Park, and I've joined the WhatsApp group, but I'm struggling to see how to share location within WhatsApp.  I can share my location from within Google Maps; is this what I'm supposed to do, or am I missing something?

For an Android phone, to start Live Location:

In the Stoneleigh Whats App group, click on the paper clip add-file button, in the space you'd normally type a message.

That will then pop up a menu asking you what sort of thing to add, select "Location"

Then, it will take you to another screen, asking you whether to share live location - select this - the other options will just send a snapshot of your current position, but won't update.

This takes you to a final page,

Select 8 hours to cover the whole trip down, (you can turn it off at any time, once there) and then hit the green send arrow to confirm.

Your post with your live location on, will now show in the group chat. As others add themselves, they will also appear on the map.

Just want to say thanks to @Si.Dalziel and @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO for leading the charge on this. Looks like you have been messaging and updating like mad all week.

If you turn up on time you will get to enjoy the convoy. It’s looking like a pretty busy one this year so should be good.

Ah the good old days!  Just before the (kit car) shows seemed to start disappearing like crazy.

The good old days will come back, we just need a little bit more enthusiasm and commitment from everybody :t-up:

For those that have never been in a BIG convoy of Westfields, you don't know what you are missing, you WILL enjoy it :d

Just a heads up. Coming home tonight though the M6 roadworks between Stoke on Trent and Stafford (going south) the speed limit was reduced from 60 to 50 then 40 and the speed cameras were flashing the cars going to fast. So just watch your speeds. It's the first time I've seen them working in this section.
