Yes it was a glib answer but take away food shops have been allowed to stay open. I think it's more about preserving SOME normality than anything else. There's lots of things we can't do. It is a pretty small room where eyetests are done. Don't know. I do know that audiologists were closed as I had a need to get an ear looked at. Yes I could go to hospital, but it ain't that bad yet. Plus the machines opticians use have you with your head on a rest and very close to hard surfaces. Even if they were open I'm not sure I'd go unless it was an emergency. I wandered round my local Tesco yesterday and failed to notice if the Opticians was open. The phone shop was though, and that's a prety small cubicle too.
