The real media is bad enough at the moment. Facebook/Twitter/Insta hardly have a good reputation for quality reasoned debate. I don't use them because they are useless... Quote We allow topics here where NO AGREEMENT IS EVER POSSIBLE Bike engine versus car engine? 13's versus 15's? Swept wings versus cycle wings? Yellow cars versus every other colour? Megasquirt versus manufactured ECU? Narrow versus wide? Nylon versus poly versus standard metallastic? 4 pots versus standard brakes? Hi Spec versus Bremsport? 1144's versus Greenstuff? Hi Spec versus Bremsport? 1144's versus Greenstuff? -both have their use, depends of your target and your budget. Love them both. -13 if you are looking for dynamics and ride quality... nothing wrong with 15 anyway. -Swept wings were wrong even in the original seven... let alone in a sporty replica several decades later... (Sorry Dave...) -of course, yellow. Even the fact of questioning it is a massive offence. -are you good enough with a soldering iron? Will MS give you enough parameters to control? Then good!! -narrow chasis (if you fit). Track? Hummm... interesting question with no obvious answer. -rose joined if performance is your thing... otherwise std are stiff enough for the cars weight. -the lightest available... found wilwoods 4 pots front and golfs aluminium rears to be a good compromise. Allways wrapping solid disks. -anything but HiSpec... they are a nightmare to deal with. -none of them are true brake pads... so... whatever. All of the above topics will have an opinion, nobody will get killed on the streets because of them, none of them will rise an eyebrow to anyone to the point of feeling unconfortable... And above all they are relevant topics and the ones expected to be found here... I see I'm obviously quite alone with my opinion that this is not the place to discuss sensible topics that can tear relationships appart, loose appreciation to certain individuals with certain opinions and that get people killed on the streets... particularly because (from my perspective) benefits in nothing to the club's atmosphere... In my case, I stopped entering to stuff and nosense seeking for fun and random content while the brexit topic was headliner in first page all the time... because was (still is) a topic that could have changed my life and probably still will and i have enough of it on my day to day basis including news, media and social. I will from now do the same while this topic is around precisely because I do have enough of it on my day to day... Ps. You should never agree with Scott! He is not the chairman anymore and he is powerless, no need to worry about consequences.

Not sure what you're getting at there. The point was that unsettled differences are unsettled differences. Some are about car related trivia, some are about the important issues of the day. Either way I personally relish a free and frank exchange of views irrespective of the subject matter, 9 hours ago, maurici said: I see I'm obviously quite alone with my opinion that this is not the place to discuss sensible topics that can tear relationships appart, loose appreciation to certain individuals with certain opinions and that get people killed on the streets... particularly because (from my perspective) benefits in nothing to the club's atmosphere... You're not alone. I've been posting contrary and contentious thoughts around here since the late 1990's. If you did a search ( ) you'll find plenty of things with my name on that look like arguments. No-one died because of them though. Some would say I am old enough to know better, but the more I experience life, the more curious I get and the less likely I am to simply accept what is being said without further thought and then asking questions, being deliberately controversial (I wasn't trying to be deliberately controversial in this thread) or playing devils advocate to spur on the debate. 9 hours ago, maurici said: In my case, I stopped entering to stuff and nosense seeking for fun and random content while the brexit topic was headliner in first page all the time... because was (still is) a topic that could have changed my life and probably still will and i have enough of it on my day to day basis including news, media and social. So don't open those threads. There are plenty of threads on here that I just never look at because the title makes it clear it's not for me. As for Brexit, I spend about 30 to to 40 weeks a year travelling from my home in London to places of work in France, Germany, Italy, Holland and beyond so Brexit is a hot topic and potentially life changing for me too. And I still voted to leave... but that's another story 9 hours ago, maurici said: Ps. You should never agree with Scott! But I have the utmost respect for him, as I do for all WSCC members. I appreciate all the opinions and the fact that folks are brave enough to publish them so that they can be debated speaks volumes about the character of our members. I also trust that he would not (and never did) use his position to stifle debate. Quite the opposite. And in the past when things have got heated I have received an occasional PM from committee members. I ALWAYS comply with their wishes. It's one of the few things I would not question. True, we rarely agree politically anyway, as my personal political leaning is that ALL politicians are incompetent, self-serving, weak-kneed, money grubbing little vermin, which I accept is not universally popular but does have the gift of being even handed in my dislike for both Left and Right. I too have the utmost respect for @Blatman and the membership too and their right to their own opinion, politely expressed as it is 99.99999% of the time in here. To the best of my memory (two grey cells huddled in the corner for warmth and safety), debate has never been stifled in here by the committee (with or without me on it). There have been times when debates have MORE than run their course and the threads locked when no more useful could be achieved. There have been instances where posts have been hidden (including mine, you’ll be amazed to hear... or not) for sound legal or taste reasons, which I have accepted fully. But debates have always had both sides of the coin aired. I’m certain healthy, rational debate will always have its place in here, right next to my irrational and bizarre ramblings. I agree with that too. BUT... until someone "normal" stands up to be counted we get what we get. But even then, many, if not most of us end up becoming a product of our environment to a greater or lesser degree. People of true character who can resist that sort of thing are rare indeed. I like Billy Connolly's line on politicians: The desire to be a politician should bar you for life from ever actually becoming one.. 1 hour ago, Captain Colonial said: I too have the utmost respect for @Blatman *Doffs cap*

He and Lynn both had some challenges back in 2017/2018. They are now both back in the UK, in better health (as I understand it) and active in the MG Owners club. He has a blog that details their trials and tribulations at http://www.lotus7news.co.uk/ Caution... your browser may throw an alert about the site. Don't worry, it's all OK. I didn't often see eye to eye with Norm but having read the blog I am pleased that he and Lynn have both come through their challenges and remain as enthusiastic as ever. Thanks for the link Blatters. Actually I was being a bit mischievous by mentioning Norman. I actually quite like him, despite being politically somewhat at variance with him, and enjoyed bantering with him both on the forum and in private. His Daily Blog seems to have gone quiet, but I did discover his loyalties had moved over to MG and that despite a bout of Covid19 he is thriving. I never met either him or Lynn in the flesh as it were, but I'm sure he'd be a great drinking companion!

It was a massive effort given that there was a HUGE marquee with satellite TV and a MASSIVE screen, field kitchens, private showers and plenty of UK pwer sockets for charging phones. Yes I confess, I went to Le Mans, in my Westfield, with the L7Club. The banter was epic, especially when this happened...
