At the time you said probably was ISS 😎

Yeah I agree, looks about the same distance from the moon as I saw and I am sure it was ISS. Shame we couldn't get to see both.

We could clearly see ISS, but unfortunately we couldn't see SpaceX.

@corsechris Once it looked like it was going to go I asked my boy and he said (and I quote) "it does look cool but can I go to bed I'm tired" so I figured I'd let him go and we watched a video of it this morning. I think at 4yo he just isn't quite there yet to get it, but Artemis 3 in 2024 will literally be his Apollo and the start of something massive if they push onto Mars. Plus he'll be 8 and ready to appreciate it properly I think. I'll keep trying in the meantime ;)

Saw ISS here too but no capsule unfortunately. It was due about 10 degrees elevation which is really low, and it was still light so chances were low. Nevermind, still great to see the launch (and Falcon return). Space engineering is a mind-blowing thing.

Incidentally I think that's the last of the visible ISS passes overhead for at least a few weeks according to my app. Got some fantastic views of it over the past fortnight though with this clear weather. :)

4 is a bit young!  Hopefully Artemis will deliver, although the way he’s going, Elon will have a SpaceX branch office already built when they get there.  I thought it very telling that not only were Boeing told to go away and not come back until they had reviewed and checked every single line of code in the software on Starliner, but they didn’t even get a look-in on the lander project.

@corsechris It is young to be fair :) Although he's really into his vehicles in general and has enjoyed watching old Saturn V footage previously when he was asking about space rockets so thought it was worth a try, but that's why I didn't push it.

The ISS docking was silky smooth, SpaceX are looking pretty pro at this all now. Elon is a very mixed character but I do admire how driven he is to dream big and say "we're going to do this" and then through solid science, engineering, time, effort and investment it happens. I remember thinking SpaceX sounded like a pipe dream in the early 2000's and look at them now, Tesla is similar (my ride in a Model S 90D is still up there as 'wow' moment for me - massively impressed).

I’ve been watching the approach/docking. Only problem they seem to be having is with hardline comms from ISS to Dragon. The non-SpaceX bit!

I wanted a Tesla S myself but just couldn’t bring myself to spend that much on a car. Wish I had TBH as I don’t really much like the Merc hybrid I ended up with.

Have to admire what Elon has achieved.

I agree. Hes nuttier than squirrel **** but its amazing what he and his companies have achieved. Like so many pioneers I guess he'll be appreciated more in a hundred years time than in the present day which is a shame.

If you have a spare couple of hours I recommend this video, I like Joe Rogan he has some great guests on his podcast, this is the one with Elon talking about his flame thrower etc and having a bifta 😎
