Saw Paddy Power offering 11/4 odds on Boris being replaced during 2020 as Conservative leader and PM!

Six months back replacement seemed impossible although Tory Party is famous for swearing undying loyalty in public while plotting behind the scenes.

IMO 2020 is unlikely but I suppose it depends how bad things get.

I would be very surprised if he's ousted. Popularity within a year of a big election win is the least of his worries. It's the time to do the unpopular stuff conventionally. The voters have notoriously short memories.

I’m expecting odds on DC getting sacked myself. Press really won’t let it drop will they....

(Not that I condone what he did, he was taking the p***, despite it being technically legal.....probably).

No technicalities. It was legal. His excuse of "testing his eyes" was idiotic and for that he loses credibility. But he didn't break the law.

Not sure how the press can stand by "the rule of law" in general in order to win public support then abandon so quickly to win money for click-bait headlines.

I want to complain to "the authorities" about the scrum breaking the law, but I have fallen in to a trap. Social Distancing seems to be absent from The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020. Who would have thought...

I'm sure we would all agree that it is good, sensible advice to keep away from coughers and sneezers anyway, but apparently a highly infectious, deadly to some global pandemic is it not a good enough reason to make social distancing law, even if it would be temporary.

So the press scrum is perfectly legal, if a little cavalier... And I do love the irony of the double standard :d

I'm assuming those calling for DC to get the sack are being level headed and unbiased and calling for these press people to get the sack also.

Come on Blatters we know they are using their position  in a way that will encourage everyone in the UK to do the same therefore they are breaking the law maybe somehow somewhere.

I haven't found it yet. But I've not been looking long.

What I have found is that other than the police (so it seems) there is no mechanism for complaining about what we have seen to either IPSOS (The Press Complaints Commission as was) or OFCOM. Neither has regulatory powers to cover this, but these are unprecedented times so they get some slack for that...

The Police of course won't do anything even if it was illegal. They'd get too much bad press... Ironies abound...

What I'd like is for politicians to put their rivalries to one side for an hour and get back after the press for this and their general behavior during this crisis. I wish they had the balls to stand up as one and say "hang on a minute, there is an obvious double standard here which if discovered we had perpetrated, we would be eviscerated for. Get your house in order then come back and talk to us. Until then, all bets are off."

Sadly, they don't have the balls as a group...

Unfortunately they don't. Hancock cut  Peston down to size earlier but that's been about it. I feel the hysteria we have in the UK is from the press.  I'm really disappointed in their actions more now than ever before. I simply don't listen to them anymore and my group of friends and acquaintances are of the same view.

Problem is the press have very little else to occupy their little minds and so pick up on sheer rubbish, like you as soon as DC is mentioned I turn off.

Definitely all this will end Conservative reign and it will be a difficult task for anyone else to continue, back to rationing and Nationalization. If were really in the mire maybe that nice Chinese government will take us over😭
