What about a BMW M5... leggyish versions with full wedge of history now availble for <£20K.

I agree........it was one on the original list....as I say I find the 523 a bit of a bus but I reckon the M5 would be a lot tighter, and with that V8  :love:  :love: .....

Thanks again - if you can be bothered, keep them coming!! I'm enjoying it even if noone else is.....!!

:blush:  :cool:  :love:

Got a 325ci to gad about in, wish I'd gone for the 330ci! Still the 325 is great handles brill and loves to be worked thru the semi auto box. Room in the back for adults, had three rugby players in there before, good sound system, large boot for whatever, a great allrounder. After all Audi TT, birds car!!!  :D

Slightly worried that four pages on, this one is still on topic...

Therefore in the spirit of the board and completely derailing the thread - what do we reckon is Top Totty Transport?

Flanker is already in there with the TT (Totty Transport?)

Beetle Cabriolet or a Seight get my vote :devil:

Rob&Colin - thanks for your efforts!!

You have come up with most of what has been on my list.....

A8? A bit big I think!

S Type R - haven't seen one for £20k (yet)

CLK320 - hmm, I've been wondering about those....just how much "fun" would it be.....? It goes alright in straight line, nice 6 cylinder lump, and roomy.....but.....

Mondeo st220 gets another mention  :0  Sorry, but I can't get past Mondeo badge however good it is....not given this kind of choice  :D

From sublime to ridiculous - I saw a Y plate R.Rover with everything on it for £20k........now thats a lot of car!!!

Wonder if I can find an Overfinch one...... :devil:  :devil:

Drove an RX8 to-day, I strongly suggest you try one, provided you can wait, I'm still smiling...

BMW = Common as Muck

Scooby = Essex Man

Merc = Best Trucks

PS

You really do need the audible rev limit warning, the sound of 9000 rpm is VERY moorish  :D

Some thoughts on the M5 - a friend of mine has one - it's a loverly motor - goes like stink - but - he's had loads go wrong with it - two new dash boards - new clutch, new pistons (it was drinking oil at the rate of about 1l a week at one point - local BMW dealership said that was acceptable !;)

Nice car - but make sure you get a good one !

I'm not a million miles from Overfinch so there are quite a few locally. The local L/Rover specialists that service my Defender won't touch them with a barge pole - especially the earlier one's with the big V8 (Chevy?) conversions. Not a great piece of engineering apparently. I think Overfinch content themselves with bolt on upgrades now the BMW lump is in the new ones. And the air suspension is still a disaster waiting to happen.

If you're up for a big barge like that look at an Amazon - although they are actually smaller than the new Range Rover - just. Not sure if you have a company fuel card... :0
