adhawkins
Just don't be tempted to take it on an airfield day and sit in front of a faster yellow Westfield ignoring blue flags for about 10 laps Andy

Bronco Jr
Got to be an M3 you've not got enough for a new shape one, but a good low milage evo will be just the ticket. Worst of the depreciation already done, 321 BHP fast as b*******y and practical.... RE the Trevor, my brother used a Chimera as everyday transport for two years, other than the windscreen wiper burning out it never missed a beat But I would be tempted by an XK8 as westy suggests, lot of car for the money that... Mark B
1)Focus RS 2)Subaru impreza turbo 3)Evo 6/7 4)Focus ST170 All quick point to point, handle well, practical and easy to service etc as dealers/ specialists everywhere, oh and great fun imo! adhawkins
I don't think I read a positive review of the road-going abilities of the Focus RS. It was great on a track by all accounts, but as soon as you get onto a slightly rough surface it was a nightmare. Probably something to do with why they're not produced any more! The Impreza and Evo are more than 20k new aren't they? I guess you'd get a used one at the right price... Andy
david.c
All this choice just makes things so difficult......!! Stop it.....Stop it..............you're bringing a tear to my eye By the way, my brother has just ordered an RX8 (company motor) and he has got a 4 month wait for delivery. Something to bear in mind if you're the impatient type. David
Mark B
Andy, No the focus rs was always going to be made in limited numbers right from the start, the allocation was taken up with eager buyers even before they started to build them. I know they got some bad press about the diff on rough roads but it's nowhere near what clarkson made it out to be, at the end of the day it's a front drive turbo car with 212 bhp and 18" rims so it's going to torquesteer a bit isn't it? Cracking car on the whole tho. scoobys about 18k new, evo 6/7 are under 20k although evo 8 (latest model) is not. What do you reckon to your st? adhawkins
Didn't realise they'd intended it to be a limited run. That's OK then. However, it wasn't just Clarkson who criticised the diff. ISTR that JK had a go at it at one point, along with most of the people that I read / heard review the car. As you say though, it did look a cracking car. zoso
Skoda VRs for 16k fully spec'd and spend the other 4k on engine bits, or beer... Father is looking at RX8, but they can't get the lower power ones for love nor money. how about a P1 saw one in autotrader for 15K high miler but there must be some more reasonable ones for more cash.... chumley-warner
But I fear I will not get away with another impractical 2 seater........!!!! pah! its your car you buy it! i drive an mx5 during the week to my hairdressing saloon. at the weekends i drive the westie. the gf - she drives a k reg fista hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha teach her to earn a pittance OiOi (ps im just of to my local misognists anonymous meeting) (pps - before the flame starts about the mx5 name another car that meets the following criteria - reliable, cheap to run and insure, convertible, fun(ish) to drive, under 5k) I too drive an MX5 in the week and silly car for the weekends (well the dry ones at least...) Jolly good show!
Mark B
Yes I know what you mean Andy, there was a fair bit of it in the motoring press at the time of launch, I just remember clarkson on about alot, I do find him funny but when it comes to cars that are are a bit more interactive he's a big p**f imho! A mate of mine has an rs focus, he loves it but I haven't managed to blag a go yet! Mark.
