Arm
Seems the Cummings story is tapering off so anyone care to summarise if there was a law, was it broken, will any action be taken ?

Breaking a law and simply knowing the law better than the majority of other people, are two different things. What he did was take a loophole which existed, but few people knew about, because most people appear to be running with what the media told them in the week before any new announcements have been made (ie speculation), and many are not actually getting their information from official sources. For example last week the media had people panicked by telling us that employers were going to have to start paying 25% of the furlough costs, this as far as I can tell has no basis in fact and has not been announced by the govt, yet this rumour was starting to gain traction, I wonder how many people lost their jobs over that??? My GFs mother is very gullible, she's been sharing stuff on social media, working herself into a frenzy over rumours, misinformation and outright lies...... All coming from the same news outlets who claim to be fighting against fake news, as if that makes them more trustworthy.

Judo and Ballroom dancing remains banned but from June sex workers can begin to offer their services. 3 hours ago, Man On The Clapham Omnibus said: How will they do that, exactly? Apparently professional ladies are recommended to adopt covid safer positions such as reverse cowgirl or doggie according to BBC online. The people I feel most sorry for are professional pickpockets. Surely an almost impossible job with social distancing and without income declaration no furlough either. Easy. The legitimate reasons IN LAW to be outside during lockdown are clearly defined in the Coronavirus (Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020 In a court of law it must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt that he was NOT doing one of these things when outside. corsechris
My new neighbours who moved in just before this started have been receiving regular visits from their family for weeks. Typically they turn up in two cars and stay 2 or 3 days. At least one of the cars is coming from west London. They have also received food deliveries from another family member that was driving a round trip of 60 miles, which seems a but excessive given there are people (including us) living next door who have offered them help. It doesn’t really bother me as such, but I do think these visitors are putting the new neighbours (their family) at greater risk....but it’s their funeral. As far as one can tell from noises and chatter drifting over the hedge, they are doing gardening for them. Based on that, as far as some folk are concerned, there is no lockdown. jeff oakley
The Cummings one took another turn tonight. The first person who reported him has broken the lockdown rules himself allegedly several time . One of the others who made a song and dance turned out to be a Labour peer who wanted to remain in the EU and finally the person who claimed he had a photographic memory and saw Cummings out a second time has admitted he made it up. I bet that won't be a big headline in the mirror or guardian.

Man On The Clapham Omnibus
BBC News on Radio 4 at 07:00 said about the false sighting. The rest is on Daily Mail website Okay it's the Mail but in this case the facts are verifiable I assume. It seemed synthetic and malicious right from the start, and now we can see that it is to an extent. I daresay if DC had been nabbed for speeding or a parking offence he'd be in the Tower by now. The man may be an but his 'offence' is pretty trivial and no more than many others whose profile isn't as high, and who are not as loathed (by his opponents) as he is. Kingster
Durdle Door: Three seriously hurt 'jumping off cliff into sea' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-52864454 Looks like not only were a few prime Darwin Award candidates airlifted, but the onlookers were then herded together to make room for the air ambulances! Social distancing at its best 🤡
jeff oakley
4 hours ago, Captain Colonial said: Source please. As Motco said Captain. It is funny that the BBC haven't reported this in the detail they did before they found out he had broken no law. The Maitlis monologue which they have agreed broke their own rules got a few lines. The Labour Peer, Lady Armstrong had the information for 6 weeks he was in Durham but only rang the papers once he was back in full swing. She is being feted by those who wanted to remain and has acknowledged she wanted to embarrass the government. If it was vital for the public to know why wait 6 weeks? Also in the latest opinion poll 81% of people think Cummings broke the lockdown rules. This shows how the media narrative has a huge affect on the public as clearly 81% of people are legally wrong on the main thrust of the accusations and it was only when that was proved wrong that they moved onto his test drive" to Barnard Castle, to ensure he was fine for a longer journey next day as the point to highlight. The fact that we had the person who allegedly started the whole thing is accused of multiple lockdown breaches himself, the second one who has admitted lying hasn't got anywhere near the coverage it should have. This morning a Labour MP for Canterbury has resigned her position as a shadow whip, as she has broken the lockdown rules several times whilst having her married lover over to stay, he has now moved in. Not a great deal of shouting over that one in the media as well. The media has been despicable in their whole coverage of what has happened and has sought to make the news not report it. Steve (sdh2903)
surely the whole crowded beach thing is breaking all the mass gathering rules regardless of distancing? I just don't get the whole mass surge to the beach routine when there's no facilities open the sea must be full of floaters. These people will be the first to complain at a second spike lockdown.
