That policeman did incredibly well and a credit to what is largely consensual policing in this country. He had obviously already left her there for some time as a compromise before returning and was suggesting common sense rather than being authoritarian. Yes we all know the powers police really have for this are minimal but does she really have to just be awkward when pretty clear what we are being asked to do 1 Quote

No way, I could never do the Job, what a total idiot she is, the kind that you hope will actually as a result catch this Virus and suddenly wake up to how serious it really is. Not that I would wish any serious harm on anyone, but a good wake up call sometimes is a good thing. Quote
jeff oakley Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 This is bringing out the best in people nd the worst. The woman was a self entitled idiot. Her comment if I get it so what I am only harming myself. She and her type are putting strain on the NHS when it could be avoided. She claimed she was exercising her brain, I doubt that. What there should be is a massive fine, none appealable for people like her and she if she is so chipper after that. The Police officers did a great job there. 1 Quote
DonPeffers Posted April 9, 2020 Author Posted April 9, 2020 With 9 London bus drivers dying of covid I am always concerned when I see Police officers having to speak to errant members of the public who are disobeying the lockdown rules, but within the 2 metre range and without any masks. Quote
DonPeffers Posted April 9, 2020 Author Posted April 9, 2020 Unbelievable. 09 apr 2020 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-52227363 "Coronavirus: Arrests after men lick hands and wipe supermarket food" "Police have made two arrests after two men were seen on CCTV licking their hands and wiping them over vegetables, meat and fridge handles in a supermarket. The men walked into the Sainsbury's store in Lancaster Road, Morecambe, on Saturday afternoon. Staff were forced to thoroughly disinfect the store and destroy products, Lancashire Police said. Insp James Martin described the incident as "flabbergasting"." And it goes on..........09 apr 2020 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-52221688 "Coronavirus: Greater Manchester Police warning after 660 parties shut down" "Greater Manchester Police has warned people not to breach lockdown rules over Easter after it had to break up 660 parties last weekend. Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said "each and every one of us need take this seriously". There were 1,132 coronavirus-related breaches reported between Saturday and Tuesday, the force said. That included 494 house parties - some with DJs, fireworks and bouncy castles - and 166 street parties. One woman in Bury became the first person in Greater Manchester to be charged under the Coronavirus Act 2020 after police had to repeatedly shut down one of the parties." Quote

"Fixed penalty notices have been issued to a group of people who had to be rescued from Cramond Island. The alarm was raised when three men and a woman were cut off by the tide when visiting the island, by Edinburgh, on Saturday afternoon. The police and the South Queensferry Lifeboat were involved in the Firth of Forth rescue. Once back on shore, officers fined the four people for flouting coronavirus lockdown measures." Quote
corsechris Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Why rescue them? Seems an unnecessary risk for the lifeboat crew to me. Their lives weren’t at risk from being stuck on an island for the duration of a tide cycle. 1 Quote
Arm Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Good point. Do a risk assessment, check the boat, check for ppe,..... oh tide has cycled and they can get back on their own /Yes I'm joking Quote

These aren’t the best of times. Then again, if they were stupid enough to ignore all the posted warnings about getting stranded as well as the information on how to get tide times, they were probably too stupid to shelter themselves anyway. I’d have left them myself, but then I’m a miserable b******d with little patience for f******s. If I screw up, I expect to pay the price for it. 1 Quote
DonPeffers Posted April 15, 2020 Author Posted April 15, 2020 Plenty shelters on Cramond Island and temperatures weren't freezing. Quote
