Good addition to this thread, My very first concert was to see The Sensational Alex Harvey band at Sheffield City Hall which was just astounding as Chris mentioned.

We used to do repair work for Bell Records so I got two tickets given to see Gary Glitter at the Batley Variety Club when I took a truck back there. clearly no one knew then he was a Peado, his show was one of the best for for seeing an artist work the audience all night.

Saw Elton John at Exeter two years ago, that was class, he sang just like on his records but lets the high notes go down slightly now.

And for a really left field night out at a concert, The Ukulele orchestra of Great Britain. A mix of comedy and exceptional musicians who play modern songs like Teen Spirit and Zeppelin songs.

Foo fighters at Milton Keynes  about 7 years ago definitely my best gig

Well if we have to go there.... Cris Rea at the NEC

Happy to say I’ve seen a lot of gigs.  A LOT.  But if forced to narrow it down...

David Bowie’s Station to Station tour in 1976 - mesmerising seeing him on stage, just amazing.

ZZ Top around 1978 when they did a show with live cows on stage.  Belting out Texas rock on a stage dressed up like a desert with cactus and tumbleweeds that moved, and three cows that were free to wander the stage and get in the way - which they did.  The ASPCA complained that the noise was cruel to the cows, but the band proved the cows chosen were deaf. 😄  (They were probably stoned as well by the end, the marijuana smoke was that thick.)

Pink Floyd’s Division Bell tour, Earl’s Court 1994.  Enough said.  Plenty of proof available in YouTube.  Only concert I’ve ever been to that I wanted to go on forever, it was that magical.

My Floyd gig was the “Animals” tour in ‘77 - they played Animals and Wish You Were Here, so I was obviously very happy. The set was pretty amazing with massive puppets and a huge inflatable pig flying over the arena (Wembley I think)

Sounds similar to the scissor sisters gig I went to at the Royal Albert hall. Lots of huge puppets on stage, flamboyant costumes and a great atmosphere!

Lots of Floyd fans here as expected👍

Think I might hold the record of seeing them three times in one week in ‘69 or ‘70 and all free entrance-

Bath & West showground

Saturday,  after midnight.

BBC studio London for their In Concert radio series

Wednesday.

Hyde Park

Saturday.

And I thought I did well seeing Zeppelin 2x in two weeks!

That’s still good going Chris. 99.9% of people have never seen them in the lifetime, I’ve only seen them once but I can’t remember where, maybe Reading or Knebworth?

That’s where I saw them in ‘79 two weeks in a row 😁

I saw Robert Plant's new band 'Saving Grace' a couple of weeks ago in a small venue in Stroud. He's still got it

I would have loved to have seen the Smith's

But I did see James on Saturday evening

It was an 'electric' performance.A fairly small gig, which makes for an intimacy unachievable at Arena/Stadium shows. I definitely prefer smaller venues.
